On the upside, no matter how you feel about either movie, people are back in the theater. I’ll be interested in seeing if this spawns a wave of folks getting back in seats.

Well, I stand corrected. I'm sorry Denham sucks. This looks nothing like the spread of showtimes in my area.

Had no idea Gosling was in this

quote:

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are next set to team up again for Jay Roach’s ‘OCEAN’S ELEVEN’ prequel.

It is described as an "epic love story/adventure disguised as a heist" set during the Monaco Grand Prix in 1962.

I love the Oceans movies (never saw the Bullock one though) and will be all over that. I could see them working out great in a period piece like that.

Florence Pugh tittays was quiet nice

Eh, they aren't bad. Not sure I would call them quite nice though.

Pretty much in Barbie Land, its a misandrist society where the Kens are there for the barbie's eye candy and enjoyment. The Barbies are the lead and the ken's are subserveant role in the relationship. Every position of power is held by a barbie.

Thats where the margot robbie barbie get shocked by the real world because the roles are reversed.

I think the scene that stood out to me was the scientist barbie scene. To be intelligent she has to wear pants, if shes in a dress she dumber than a rock.

Also a dick is the weakness of barbies cause the moment they saw one, all of the barbies became enslaved by the kens and became airheads.

Oh and they ostracized pregnant barbie aka being a mother is a bad thing

You just sold me on going to see it, lol.

This part cracks me up though:

Pregnant Barbie was the Barbie that was really fricking weird when it came out. And nobody really wanted it. Not because they didn’t want kids. But because it was just really bizarre.

Barbie and Oppenheimer finally offered original content that wasn't comic book movies.

Don't see much past these two for big success the rest of the year.

I think Dune has a chance to be huge, if it doesn't get moved.

Yeah think it will do very well. Would expect it would do numbers little better than Oppenheimer. But saw they were delaying to 2024.

It depends.

I can see folks coming back next weekend or after to see MI.

I expect Dune to do very well if it stays put. Killers of the Flower Moon should also do well. I can see the Hunger Games prequel getting some nice crowds when it releases in November.

MI losing a lot of screens to barbie and Oppenheimer.

Killers of the flower moon looks pretty niche to me. But probably cheap to make, bet it does light numbers but path to profitable.

Hunger games is a wild card, but even mocking Jay dropped off hard

It’s got Leo though. And Scorcese too. With another really solid cast of known actors. I think it nets a bigger crowd as a result. Maybe not Barbie big but decent sized.

I think the problems going to be the length. Is there a large enough audience interested in seeing a 3.5 hour film? Add trailers, and you're spending 4 hours at the movies.

I really think there's a huge chunk of people going to see Barbie that have no clue what its about. I've even heard from adults that said they were taking their young daughters. Really kind of hammers home that point.

Since when has Ken ever been a focal point of the Barbie brand? It’s called Barbie for a reason, no one cares about Ken.

This response seems completely irrelevant to what you quoted. Dude wasn't saying Ken needed to be the focal point.
