My daughter bought tix for the family to go see both so we did. Made for a long day Saturday but both movies are good even if polar opposites on the entertainment style scale. The chances of me going to see Barbie without that push were zero point zero. But it’s actually a decent popcorn flick especially after the heaviness of Oppenheimer.

ETA: they had shite tons of hot milfs at Barbie which didn’t hurt either.

Also difficult to frick up, but still not as good as other versions.

This is not a good opinion
LW 1994 is the most acclaimed and best version. shite, 1933 is better than Gerwig's version.

Then, you have a 2017 TV version and a 2018 movie, one year before Gerwig. So, cheap to make + famous, established title = very hard to frick up.

Apparently, there is drama in the movie about Barbie moving between her world and the “real world”.
It’s not really a kid’s movie from what I understand.

It's not great, or even good, but Rise of the Beasts has outperformed the previous 2 transformers entries, domestically. The international numbers aren't nearly as good as for The Last Knight (I forgot Whalberg was in 2 of these), but it's going to finish close to those of Bumblebee.

I actually went and saw Indy.

Forgettable movie, kinda sad really. Too much CGI. It could have been so much more, better.

This movies triggering a lot of folks

"I thought feminism was about equality...

"Why does empowering women have to be about trashing men?"

Piers Morgan questions the Barbie movie's 'anti-patriarchy' message.

Yep, billion is locked. It'll be around 750 mil by the end of the weekend. For comparison, Super Mario was at $690 at that point.

quote:

Another $33M weekday overseas for #Barbie   . Total reaches $294M. Absolutely insanity on weekdays in Europe & Americas. 2nd weekend should bring in ~$125M for ~$420M by SUN.

UK - $39.5M
MEX ~ $32.5M
BR ~ $25M
AUS - $18.3M
FR - $16.5M
IT - $14.2M
ESP - $13.2M
GER - $12.5M

quote:

Incredible $23M collected by #Barbie  on WED, down a mere 12% from TUE! Biggest non-opening-day WED in studio history for WB breaking 15-year-old record held by Dark Knight ($18.4M). Domestic #boxoffice total for #BarbieMovie    now $237.1M smashing $250M tonight on day 7!

Oppenheimer still kicking arse too

quote:

Correction - $10.6M WED for #Oppenheimer. Drop from TUE only 12% - identical to #Barbie   ! Domestic #boxoffice now $117.6M in 6 days on track for about $127M in 1st full week. Incredible # for 3-hour original R-rated historical biopic. This SAT it enters Top 10 for all 2023 films!

My girlfriend knows better than to ask me to go see that. She took her two daughters and I offered to watch her 8 year old son so he wouldn’t be subject to feminist propaganda.
