Netflix has been real miss lately with their original programming, but they're doing a solid job of acquiring shows. First Suits, now these two.

I guess with the strikes they've had to pivot, but I've noticed they are doing a good job of adding shows to draw people in

If Band of Beothers never existed, The Pacific would be the greatest WW2 series ever.

But it does exist. And because of that Pacific is slept on.

Thanks! Just started BofB last night for my 5th rewatch and will follow with my 2nd rewatch of The Pacific.

I highly recommend the book about Dick Winters. Great guy.

My wife saw bitg of these on Netflix and asked about them I told her that both are amazing and are a lot deeper than just war. So she is going to give it a try. So far she really likes the show

IIRC, Leckie’s Australian girlfriend had a nice rack.

I actually have a set of Band of Brothers DVD's in really great tin, but I haven't had my DVD player hooked up in years, so this will be much more convenient.

Rami Malek steals the show as cajun Merill 'Snafu" Shelton in a brillant performance.

One of the best performances I've seen. Made me feel what war must feel like. He was totally gone mentally - the scene where he's throwing pebbles into the top of a severed is straight eerie. And pulling teeth out of dead soldiers.

The writers did an outstanding job making you feel the impacts of war.

We always seem to miss Currahee, then binge the rest of the day. Wife and I are both history teachers, so we don't leave the couch during the Memorial Day marathon.

Curahee is the best episode of the whole series for me

ETA: I love a good boot camp episode or movie.

Hopefully this gives The Pacific a boost. It’s a better representation of war and perfectly captures the brutality of the island hopping campaign.

I just started a rewatch of Band of Brothers thanks to this thread.

I've only seen it once I think, a long time ago, so my memory is fuzzy.

I'm on E1 and David Schwimmer's character is so good and so bad at the same time. Pushing his company to the limit is legit in my opinion, but he's also so thin skinned and petty, it reminds me of some of my time in the military. --- Not war time, especially not WW2, don't get me wrong. --- But how he does Damien Lewis' character, also an officer is terrible.

This is going to be a good rewatch for me. Again, it's been a long time.

For those of you who have never seen them, or for those of you who want to re-experience them, these critically acclaimed and popularly beloved miniseries are available for you to watch on Netflix.

Both of them are must watches.

But BoB is significantly better.

My dad was at Iwo Jima and the only thing he would say when we boys would ask was how badly he wanted some ice water and how bad the sulfur smell was.

If he fell asleep watching tv I would go wake him and he would scare me to death. He would jump up like he was holding a rifle.

I finally mentioned it to him and he replied, " when you are asleep in a hole and someone wakes you, you come up shooting"

This was many years after WWII.

I just finished watching BoB for the first time. What an incredible series, so well done. I can't even imagine the things these men went through. Emotions all over the place watching this. That part where they come upon the concentration camp was intense. But I loved the last one with the baseball scene and the telling of the lives after the war. Then the interviews of the real men. I'm not crying, you're crying.

Thanks for sharing. Man, the hell that they must have gone through. Unimaginable. Different breed.
