For those of you who have never seen them, or for those of you who want to re-experience them, these critically acclaimed and popularly beloved miniseries are available for you to watch on Netflix.

Dang, that's great news. Thanks for the heads up.

I actually have a set of Band of Brothers DVD's in really great tin, but I haven't had my DVD player hooked up in years, so this will be much more convenient.

For those who haven't watched The Pacific yet - it is good but a bit grittier and darker than BoB and since BoB is pretty much The Goat, Pacific doesn't quite reach those heights. On the plus side, Rami Malek steals the show as cajun Merill 'Snafu" Shelton in a brillant performance.

I've seen BoB so many times that I feel like I can recall most scenes. It's been a long while since I've seen the Pacific and it sounds like it needs a re-watch.

I was just wrapping up the BOB companion podcast today. I was tearing up and watched the ending of the baseball game and voice over with the winters interview at the end. It gets me every time. They just absolutely nailed the tone of that series. It’s incredible. I’ll watch it once a year at least forever.

So what's up with HBO/Max releasing their properties?
I noticed the other day, all the DCU movies are now on Prime too.

I THOUGHT the concept was: hoard everything people want to see, and they will pay for your streaming service to watch it.

I picked up Paramount, and it's touting Top Gun Maverick and D&D Honor Among Thieves; but I've already seen them on MGM+.
And they have the Indiana Jones movies, but they're also on Disney+.

Netflix is paying them. It's mostly older things or things that people wouldn't subscribe to Max specifically for. I think Insecure, Ballers, Six Feet Under and a few others are making their way over if they haven't all already.

I’ve noticed a lot of war movies on my Netflix lately. I wonder if this is a hint of what’s about to happen to our country and they are trying to prepare us for it

My ex-wife and I had a tradition, where we watched it every winter break, even before we got married. The Pacific is also awesome, but I've been to both Iwo Jima in the summer, and Bastogne in the winter, and there is a special level of suck in the "haze" of a Belgian winter.

My son was 10? when we started him on the tradition of watching BoB, so he could watch what actual suck looks like.

I'm with you. Band of Brothers is great but The Pacific is so moving and so well done. You feel what they feel.

When is Masters of the Air - the 8th Air Force project supposed to be released? I feel like it's been in the works over a decade.

BoB was released in 2001, and The Pacific in 2010. It’s 2023. Why hasn’t another mini-series of that caliber been released? I know there’s a demand.

There’s something almost romantic about BOB. Obviously war is hell, but something about a group of guys from different backgrounds traipsing through the European countryside fighting pure evil is weirdly nostalgic and has this weird historical tint to it. It was a great cause fought by normal men who did great things. Americas finest hour if you ask me.

For you Band of Brothers fans who have never seen The Pacific - it is definitely worth the effort, but it is a different experience. The Pacific War itself was just a different sort of war than the one in Europe.

... and he said, GrandPa, were you a Hero in the war? And GrandPa said, no. But I served in a Company of Heroes.

James Badge Dale's (Actor) performance as Robert Leckie in The Pacific is outstanding in my opinion.
