Is it? I thought it was essentially Avatar on the water. People underestimate the value of a beautifully shot, fun ride. People will pay to see that and sometimes more than once. I remember when just about everything in the summer was that sort of movie. Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Escape From New York, Ghostbusters, Terminator, first two Star Wars, etc.

Between you and the other guy's links, I count 4 different posters who said it was not going to be successful

One saying he didn't care.

The guy I quoted said "a bunch of posters". I was expecting 10, at least.

You guys give me 4, and a possible

This was always going to make money. People who thought that was going to be a flop do not realize how easy to please modern audiences are.

It doesn't mean it's good - the first one was pretty terrible and this looks no different - but it will make money. Whoop dee doo. Who cares so much as to start 3 threads on it?

There are more than 4 on this board if you google Avatar Tigerdroppings.

There's at least 10 I counted just by clicking two links.

I didn't think I'd have to link them all because you asked to provide links for a few.

You're now shifting the goal posts for some reason.

I asked for links to the "bunch of posters on here"

Still waiting.

Goalposts haven't even shimmied or swayed.

The definition of bunch is just a group or a number.

I would think even 4 counts as a bunch.

Furthermore, if there are 4 who commented, there's going to be more who lurk and had the same sentiment.

And I've counted more than 4 unique users who have made comments saying Avatar 2 wasn't wanted or was going to flop.

There's way more posters on sites like Redit as well who thought it would flop.

Enjoyed the movie. Slept from beginning to end during the Christmas season. Best sleep in two weeks. Only saw the credits rolling when my kids told me it was time to leave.

Whatever you may think of James Cameron

He was in the running for my favorite director before all these $2b films. Maybe they are just not for me.

But, congrats to him. He's got 3 more of these, at least. Do one in snow, another in the desert and one on the savannah/steppe. He's proven the audience is there.

So- semantics. Hundreds of posters here, and you found 4 to flex on because you love Avatar?
Good for you, I guess?

He did True Lies? The one with the Harrier?

I'll put that above Abyss. Didn't realize that was him.

James Cameron just knows how to make movies that people will go see. He’s now made 3 of the top 10 highest grossing movies of all time.
