I've enjoyed both episodes so far. It feels like there is no drop off in quality from the original series, in fact animation and sound is better. I really like Korra and all of the characters so far. I'm very anxious to see where the story goes from here.

The pro bending was done well, should be a nice little subplot for the early episodes.

seems like airbending would own the pro bending circuit

First of all why aren't they airing this show on prime time Tuesday or something like that due to the fact that older people have better shite to do than wake up on a Saturday morning and watch cartoons?

Secondly, the episode was yet again pretty great. The pacing is breakneck and the series as a whole feels like one big film (like Game of Thrones) rather than being episodic. The series in this episode puts off the much darker and more mature tone than the original. Oman is without question a much better antagonist than Ozai was and is very chilling. He's particularly threatening that Oman is apparently a spirit bender like the Avatar and I am particullarly glad that they are going with the opposite approach to the main antagonist that they did with the original series. The action was great, and they've really stepped it up a notch with the music in this series.

With the resistance angle the show is taking how much longer do you think you will be able to see it in China?

Legally? Maybe never. Plus its more the second season of The Last Airbender which makes it banned, due to the fact that that season was heavily anti-Beijing.

Yeah, really liking the chi blockers and Oman as the main baddies so far.

While I don't really believe Oman's story, I don't doubt that a spirit gave him his abilities, like the Lion Turtle did for Aang. I'm betting Korra will defeat Oman at the end of this season merely to reveal the spirits who are behind Oman. Korra currently has no spiritual aspects, which will be completely essential to face the spirits.

That wouldn't surprise me. I'm curious how they will go with Korra's escape next week, whether they will have someone rescue her at the last minute before her powers are wiped, or if they will have the Avatar be immune to Amon's powers. The spirit attack process was tricky even for Aang against Ozai, I could see it just plain failing on the Avatar. Or it could be the preview cut scene where they show Toph's daughter carrying Korra away.

Maybe she saves herself by getting into the Avatar State. Not deliberately of course, because there's no way she has control over it which her lack of spiritual development, but it might kick in if her past lives knew that pretty much would make the Avatar useless for 3 generations.

Me either. We should remember that taking away a person's bending is actually a form of bending itself. So, either Oman is a lying hypocrite and there's more going on, which is quite possible, or there are other key players that we haven't seen yet.

Yeah, that's why the only part of Oman's story I believe is that at least one spirit gave him his powers.

Off the wall guess is that he is Angs other son Bumi and instead of being an air bender he is an energy bender

There aren't many airbenders, since Aang was the last one. Any current airbenders would have been trained by Tenzen, and we know he is anti-pro bending. It seems that most teams have a water bender, a fire bender, and an earth bender. In fact, that may well be the required combination.

Here is a link to the supposed rules, which say that my guess is correct. LINK

There is more to Oman's story. (I wonder if his dad was a cabbage merchant)

I do like how his people use their skills to combat the benders with electricity and chi-blockers. They have prepared for the fight with the benders. Also, by gong after the triads first, he will win over more of the population who have been victimized by them.

That was the first thing I thought of when he was telling his story.

Highly, highly doubt it. Here's a pic of Aang's non-bending son:

And look at Amon's hand.

Clearly white, not tan.

How did Aang and Katara have a black son?

No way Bumi and Tenzin have the same mother AND father. That's why he was a non-bender. Katara had an affair with the gardner.

Well, here's the family tree. Korra's parents don't seem to be any lighter than him.
