Am I the only the only one that finds it strange how quickly things developed over 50 years?
I think its 70 years.

the first series played it pretty loose with stuff like that but what about bending?
In the original series only like 4 people, non-avatars, could do lightning. Now enough people can do it to power an entire city?!?!
Well you've kinda got to up the anti with a sequel series, which means characters are more powerful in general. It makes sense if lightning were a closely kept secret by the Fire Nation Royal family but became more open once Zuko became Fire Lord. Plus there are alot of Metalbenders now, and I'm sure there are some bloodbenders around somewhere.
Also how brutal was that Police Raid? There's no way most of those people survived. That was more of a Gestapo Raid than a normal one. Our hero is now a war criminal.

I don't think you'll see that point brought up but I agree. The benders took it to another level "defending" themselves.
ETA Metal bending I kind of understand cause it was something no one thought of till Toph figured it out. Lightning tough they made a big deal if saying how difficult it was and took complete peace of mind etc etc

I find it strange too but then I realize how fast things develop in the real world not only our technology, but our general knowledge and our athlete's abilities.
I think we will meet the unmasked amon later in the series as an ally only to find out later that he is in fact amon
Anyone else find Korra kind of annoying. It annoys me that she doesn't have the Avatar persona that Aang did. She can have her faults because she is young like Aang did but when it comes down to crucial decisions I wish she had that super conscientious outlook

I like Korra alot more than Aang to be honest. In just four episodes, she feels like a fully realized character, which is hard to do in a television series that the first series didn't come close to doing within the first 4 episodes. It's a good thing that Korra does not have the persona Aang did. It keeps us from retreading into old territory.

how old is Korra suppose to be?
I picture her 4-6 years older than 12 year old Aang?

I like Korra more than Aang she just annoys me sometimes
That Buly(?) character is just Sokka 2.0
but other than that they have done a good job of keeping it from looking exactly like Avatar especially be focusing it in Republic City instead of them traveling around

I can see why non benders are upset, they get little or no say in the running of Republic city. They are not on the city council, the police force, and victimized by the Triad benders.

I understand the desire to keep it different so that you aren't telling same story just by a different name.
I just don't want to see everything be the opposite of the original series just for sake of being different.
Oh Aang was a spiritual guy who had trouble mastering all elements? Well Korra is non-spiritual master of elements from age 6.
Team avatar were Nomads/travelers? Well Korra is stuck in the city.
I'm not complaining YET. Ive been very pleased so far, just want see a building on first series, which I think we'll get.

Thats something I don't understand Aang had many non bending fans why arent there 2 representatives from each nation one bender and one non bender in the council

Liked the brief 4 second flashes to the old gang as adults. Hope we see more of stuff like that.
Yeah, it was really cool seeing brief glimpses of Aang and Toph all grown up, hopefully we get many more of those flashbacks.

You mean Bolin? Aside from being comic relief and ladies men, I don't see what they really have in common. Sokka was very intelligent, pessimistic, and sarcastic. Bolin seems kinda dumb, optimistic, and kind of ignorant.

Yeah, the only real similarity is comic relief really, they have pretty different personalities.
