The spirit creatures and even animlas like Apa, Momo, the Mole Badgers, Koh, Hei Bei, June's shirshu, are so well done.

Glad they stuck to the source material. Really makes the show more enjoyable.

Finishing this up now. I liked it a lot. Kinda got a little stale by the last episode but that’s because I binged it

I watched the animated series 2-3 years ago and it's one of the best TV stories I've watched in the last 5 years. Overall I'd say the Netflix version was good, but they really needed more than 8 episodes. If you drew up an outline of the first season from the animated series, I'd say they hit all of the main points, but that's all they did. It felt like it was missing some of the in between stuff that helps with the pacing of the story.

If this is going to be how they handle the entire series, I'd watch the animated version instead. For the people where animation is a deal breaker, this version is still a good show, but I'd give it a 4 stars instead of the 5 stars I'd give the animated series.

Iroh is still the goat.

Them playing leaves from the Vine during Lu Tens funeral got me a little teary eyed

I’m not going to complain too much because they have been so spot on with 98% of the show but that really felt like one where the show runners said-we can’t just be a straight cover band we have to do our own arrangement.

My most pleasant surprise is they have made me love Iroh more than the original show (which he was my favorite character in the cartoon)

Overall I have to give it a 10/10 adaptation.

Things they did better:
They rose the stakes immediately with having the opening scene. You werent just told “the fire nation is bad” you saw it on screen.
Iroh was wise but primarily comic relief early on in the cartoon. In this he’s much more the wise sage to start out.

Things they did worse:
Bumi
Katarra is a little wooden
Secret tunnels scene

At least they didn't change Bumi's pit hair.

In this case they should have just done that. I've enjoyed this show and overall this it is good. That being said, Avatar is a fantastic story that does not need to be polished but just brought to life

Eh, I was hoping they added some things to make it more pg-13 and less G. The first episode brought that but I do like the execution in the show better seeing the destruction of the air temple for the first time with aang

Had to stop halfway through episode one Monday, granted me being extremely tired had something to do with it, but after seeing the "old" guy with the awful fake beard 10 minutes into the episode I gave in to the sleep instead of fighting it. Not that looking like a CW show makes it bad, but man when you can't even make a guy look old and use the worst fake beard of all time, it's hard to take it seriously.

I'm not saying the show is bad because I haven't given it a fair shot and I hope yall are enjoying it, but man, what I have watched was pretty bad. Literally laughed out loud just looking at the one guy.

Yeah. Some of the costuming is bad. A lot of the acting is wooden... but I still love Zuko and Iroh

I watched but do not really remember the cartoon, but the Netflix show seems pretty spot on, really enjoyed all 8 episodes.

As far as adaptations, pretty faithful to the original.

As I said in thr other thread.

Just finished thr first seasons and wow, very impressed. The young guy playing Ange did a great job. I hope Netflix picks it up for season two...
