The show releases on February 22 which is 19 years and a day after the original was release.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the greatest shows ever created so here's to Netflix not fricking this up. It was announced in 2018. The co-creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, of the original show were supposed to be fully involved but left in 2020 before filming. Call me cautiously optimistic. I am praying they get this right. Aang and Uncle Iroh are two of my personal G.O.A.T characters and I just want to see the live action do the show justice. I need Azula to be a fricking headcase and Zuko to embrace the dark side before Uncle Iroh helps him see his true fate.

This is a world with unlimited potential and if hits, I think we may have a classic on our hands.

We won't discuss the first adaptation which was an utter disgrace by M. Night Shyamalan.

Official Teaser - Released on November 9, 2023

Official Trailer - Released January 24, 2024

Final Trailer - Released February 21, 2024

I think it will have a little bit more grace than some others when it comes to show changes. This show is supposed to be really dark at times and really explore the genocide of the Airbenders and some of the other grief and tough scenes that were only implied in the orignal series. I would also love to see more interactions between Aang and Gyatso.

Please cook Netflix. I beg you. I truly beg you.

Based on the trailers it should be really easy not to frick this up. The source material is close to perfect, just trust it.

Not anymore but they gave the main character a blue arrow to compensate for the change.

They're jokes (at least mine was) based on the other thread with the buffoon being completely wrong about everything he posted.

I can't watch until tonight. Any early impressions from those who've started it?

STRONG first episode.

My whole mindset with this is not to be a snob asshat. I recognize that not everything on the show is going to be like the animated series so I am not going to let that ruin my watching experience.

I already like that the the world seems bigger.

That was something that wasn't apparent in the show. The village where Katara and Sokka are from had hundreds of people as opposed to tens of people like in the show. I like that change in scaling.

The bending fricking rules. I think the bending does the show justice. You get all 4 bending techniques in episode one and they all look amazing. Gyatso and Aang dynamic is everything I had hoped for so far. fricking love it.

The actors are doing a great job and I think Aang and Sokko and Zuko are perfectly cast. We might be on to something here boys.

Second and Third episodes are okay. Not as good as the first one but still enjoyable.

The order is still off. Some elements of late season 1 animated episodes mixed in with elements from early season episodes. I guess this was a needed change but it's definitely the pacing issues that some of the early reviews said.

They also introduced Azula which I think was a needed change. Looking forward to her losing her shite as the show wears on into future seasons.

Daniel Dae Kim is fantastic casting.

ETA: Jet introduced and I almost felt sorry for this fricker early on, he's as big of an a-hole as he was in the original

Finished the first episode this is my take away

Airbender genocide is a brutal watch definitely was not expecting to see people getting roasted

Aang and Katara are probably the weak links in acting with Zuko, Ozai, and Sokka being the strong points. Hoping the weak links can improve

Sokka actually putting some of a fight to Zuko was a nice touch but still clear Zuko out ranks him in fight ability.

Iroh and Zuko dynamic seems to be on point so far but the talk between Iroh and Aang seemed off.

Kind of wished that Aang came to the realization that all his people were dead happened during him find Gyatso’s body and not Gran Gran randomly roasting him

Overall good episode everyone seems to be in character and tha acting seems to be fine for the most part. The bending is top notch too.

Through episode 4. I am not sure how I feel about the changes to Bumi.

Strong end to the episode with Zuko and Iroh's dynamic. Iroh is just the best. I'm excited to see more of him. First time Zuko is somewhat humanized. I'd say half way through the 8 episodes that this is an 8/10. I still have an open mind but I'll revaluate once the season is over.

It's different but still entertaining. I'm hoping they green light a 2nd and 3rd season.

Wholeheartedly agree and also your point on Aang and Katara. Katara is the weak link through 4 episodes.

No spoilers but didn't like how Bumi and Aang interacted. That is one that should have played out exactly like it did in the animated show but I won't ponder on it too long because I want to enjoy the show and see more.

There is something off about the editing. Almost seems like it’s sped up and the transitions are so quick

It’s like they are filming at 48 FPS
