Which should me and the wife (no pics) watch first? We have gone through almost everything on Netflix and neither one of us have seen either of these. Dont know anything about either show so if it were you, which one would you watch first? TIA

Both shows are great. If you start Parks and Rec, don't give up on it too early. It gets really good after Rob Lowe and Adam Scott join the cast toward the end of Season 2.

The first 3 seasons of Arrested Development may be the best 3 seasons of a sitcom, ever.

It's incredibly well written and layered. I've watched 6 or 7 times and still catch new jokes that went over my head initially.

Not to mention how awesome that characters are. It's pure gold. Watch it.

With that said, stop watching after season 3. Just assume that's how the show ended and go no farther.

As other have said watch both, you wont be steered wrong by chosen either for first go around.

Arrested development edges out Parks for my favorite.

Parks and Rec will be easier to get into.

Arrested development is a higher quality show but a shorter original run. But it takes a bit to really appreciate some of the jokes. A lot might not even hit you until a rewatch or someone pointing it out. It’s an excellently written show so I mean that in a good way.

To me it would depend on if you want to just mindlessly watch and laugh or actually pay attention and laugh. Arrested Development takes a lot more attention to get some of the jokes. There may be a random scene where the joke is actually what is going on in the background with one of the family members.

Yea you have to get past season one and then the characters really take shape. It helped getting rid of the Brandanowitz(sp?) character. He was incredibly boring.

The first run of AD is amazing. It's probably best watched in a binge setting, because there are so many inside jokes referencing previous episodes. I could never get into the new Netflix episodes though.

Parks and Rec is a much better casual watch. You can have it in your netflix que and watch over a couple months (at least get to the 2nd season where it catches steam).

I love both of them, it would be hard to decide.

Arrested development first three seasons are some of the best ever.

Season 4 was pretty good on rewatch, original version better than the remix imo

I disagree. Season 4 was bad, but they did a season 4 “remix” last year where they basically reorganized the episodes more like the earlier seasons. It was a huge improvement. The new seasons are still not as good, but they are still pretty solid.

I love both shows. But seasons 1-3 of arrested development maybe the best out there.

I’ve watched arrested development at least 10 times all the way through and still find new jokes.
