I saw that movie on TV when I was like 10. I liked it even at that age.

Same here. I can remember watching it one Sunday afternoon with my dad.

Incredible movie. Had no idea it was that hard to find. Wish I had bought it at Best Buy years back now.

Having said that here is a hilarious tribute to Apocalypto from eastbound and down:

fricking brutal. Jesus. Not my cup of tea but very well done.

ETA: so this guy, after having been captured, walking for days, given no water, he outruns kill party and a Jaguar? Oh, and he’s bleeding out the whole time.

Yeah, ok.

Made me want to get back into working out on a regular basis. COVID-19 did the same thing.

Watched it for the first time in years thanks to this thread. Still a great movie.

Not to hijack to another similar subject but
I went down a wiki rabbit hole on Mayans and Aztecs after. It makes me really want a well done HBO show on the Aztecs vs Hernan Cortez.

Tenochtitlan was incredible for its time. Built on a lake, multiple bridges were the only way out to it which they could remove when being attacked, estimated to have had 200k plus in it. So much potential in a show that portrays the Aztecs in all their glory only for the Spanish to come in and slaughter everyone and destroy the city.

It's damn good. I just had no clue what I was getting in to. Caught me by surprise, and had me all messed up at 1230am last night.

this is one of the harder movies to access in terms of recent releases. DVDs can fetch $50-60 on the secondary market and i believe the only blu ray release is European region only (so you have to have a region-free blu ray player outside of the UK)

Piracy + Plex remains undefeated.

I've seen this movie twice and both times I didn't use the Closed Captioning feature and still enjoyed it very much. It was a very gripping story with great cinematography.

It kind of reminded me of Rae Dawn Chong's "Quest For Fire" movie from 81------only much better.

Man I tried. Made it through the penis jokes and the hot sauce on his junk only to check out with the slavery and pillaging of the village. Did it get better after that or more of the same?

Thanks for the rec. I finally got to see this after all these years. Reminded me a little bit of The Fugitive in the sense that you are almost never allowed to catch your breath once the shite hits the fan.

Rewatched based on this thread. What a great movie ...intense. It's too bad Mel got blackballed because the man could make a movie.
