Pretty sure Air Force One crashes near Baton Rouge in Dawn’s Early Light.

Close. Marine 1 crashed just outside of DC with the President. They picked up the Secretary of the Interior with AF1 in Baton Rouge.

There's a surprise shout out to 3 Louisiana cities in the first episode of a 90's miniseries called 'Our Friends in the North.' It's a well regarded British series noted for helping to establish the careers of its four lead actors, Daniel Craig (has been referred to as his breakthrough role), Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Gina McKee (the wheelchaired fiend in Notting Hill) and Mark Strong (Deep State and lots of other stuff).

Don't think it got much play here as it's a very British centric show. It's about the lives of four friends over 31 years. There are nine episodes running about an hour to an hour fifteen. They are named for the year in which the events occur.

Sex, Lies, and a Videotape is set and filmed in BR and mentions it, and ZeeZee Gardens had the table laminated with the news paper article and photos from the movie at the table they shot the restaurant scene at. RIP ZeeZee's. Great film. Also, "Baton Rouge" is mentioned in Heathers. There are some more but I can't think of them off of the top of my head.

ETA: ahh Heathers was mentioned, I always thought it was funny how Slater emphasizes "Baton Rouggggge". And Baton Rouge is definitely mentioned in True Detective. The Church campus, when Marty goes to get info from his old colleague about "his book" and gives him single malt, at an office that has the State Capitol in the background.

Lake Charles has the best tv shout out of all time. A couple of characters on Reno 911 talk about taking a trip to Lake Charles for Contraband Days, the pirate festival held here. The pure obscure randomness is unbelievable, but is spot for the characters to be talking about taking a trip to go to in the show.

Bravo to whichever LC local that was working on the show. Bravo.

When I was in college I waited tables and at the end of the night the manager would but it on the adult video channel.

During this one scene...the guy said he was 50 miles outside of "Baton Rouge" and he had mountains in the background.

I don't think it was shot on location.

Although not referenced in the movie, I know parts of Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte were filmed in Baton Rouge and initially starred Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, who absolutely hated each other. I just still find this quote about Baton Rouge funny:

quote:

Once filming did start, Joan complained about no one coming to collect her and her team (a maid, a makeup artist and a hairdresser), after they had landed in Baton Rouge. She also complained about the accommodation, which was too close to garbage cans. Bette snapped, "Oh, Joan, pull yourself together. This is Baton Rouge, not Beverly Hills!"

It was killing me in that one RuPaul season where she kept asking the drag queen from Shreveport what the Bayou was like.

In “Network”, they were yelling “I’m mad as hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore” out of windows in Baton Rouge.

Clark Gable’s 57th birthday party was held at the Baton Rouge Country Club in 1958. He was here filming “Band of Angels” down in Geismar with Yvonne DeCarlo.
