quote:my all time fave LA sign in a movie is from a '60s western second feature called Journey To Shiloh. Some Texas boys head east to fight in the Civil War, and eventually they come to a train station with a sign reading:
10 Cloverfield Lane... she stops at a sign... forward to Baton Rouge, or left to Houston

Cliff goes to Baton Rouge during one of the later seasons of Dallas. The establishing shot is of downtown New Orleans with a half built CCC.

Not specifically Baton Rouge but in the Magnum PI pilot, the bad guy is an ex-LSU quarterback

and Penguins movie
I was watching some movie with my kids the other night that penguins as the main characters (I'm assuming this is the same movie) and one threw up snow globes from fairly well know cities throughout the world. The last globe out was "Baton Rouge". I had to stop and rewind the video after saying "did I just hear what I thought I heard"? Completely random
Then again, BR is one of the more memorable state capitals for those who had to learn such things in school.

Blue Bayou was an answer on Jeopardy once. Something about a water park in this LA capital city.

Some variations:
George Patton threatening his troops with "shoveling shite in Louisiana".
The hold-up man killed by DiNero in Taxi Driver is wearing a Tulane T-Shirt.

Nobody mentioned Sex, Lies, and Videotape? There’s plenty of BR sights in there.
Andie Macdowel’s house is on S Eugene and there are scenes in The Bayou (current day City Slice).

In Hanks' new movie; New of the World. The final scene he reads a story about a man buried alive in Baton Rouge. Great movie by the way.

The FX series The Riches was set in the rich neighborhood in Baton Rouge. They shot it in New Orleans and Marrero.
By the way, it featured a trans kid, but it was in 2007, back when nobody really got upset about that stuff.

There was an episode of The Simpsons where a character gets punished and has to recite the state capitals. And when he started, I thought to myself, they are going to cut it off well before. It’s like the seventh or eighth or ninth state capital alphabetically. But it ended up being the one that he ended on

Pretty sure Pat Garrett (played by John Wayne’s son Patrick) mentions going to Baton Rouge in Young Guns. He was talking to Billy at Charlie Bowdre’s wedding.

Soderbergh did a lot of filming in and around BR.
Besides Sex Lies, he also filmed all or part of Schizopolis and Out Of Sight here.
At the least, Out Of Sight filmed at LTI, which is currently the women’s prison. Schizopolis filmed in the Garden District, Cortana, the DEQ offices over by Swaggart, in the shopping center across from where Whole Foods now is on Jefferson, etc.
The highlight of Schizopolis had to be WBRZ co-anchor Margaret Lawhon presenting a story in which the president sold Rhode Island to private investors to be turned into the world’s largest indoor mall. The punch line was that the president said “At least we didn’t sell it to the fricking Japanese.”
