Anyone else enjoy Star Wars I-II-III?

I was so amped up for these films.
After a couple of years neither of the sat well with me.
I dont think I ever re-watched any of them.

Ive rewatched 4,5,6 over 10x.

The Fight scenes for Darth Maul was Elite.
He should have lived longer and haunted the Jedi Through out the series up into his death.

After A while, I watched a break down of I,II, III.
I agreed with a lot of the critisisms they made and many of the points they argued. I did Enjoy 1.
And Jar Jar Binks really got on my nerves.
I dont think Lucas made a great Director, Even Writer Either, which he chose to take on for these films. Which He didnt write 4,5,6 and you can tell.

He got a lot of hate for his role. There was a period where all lot of fans really hated him for butchering the "films" takening their frustration with the series out on him rather than Lucas and the directions he took with the films.

Execute order 66 scene was great

I recently rewatched 1, and while parts were better than I remembered, the bad parts were soooooo bad. Jar Jar literally made me wince from cringe at multiple scenes. To be honest, what this movie needs is dialing down Jar Jar about 20% (he’s so stupid and clumsy that it is legitimately baffling how he is alive) and casting a different actor for Anakin. The script acts like Anakin is 13-14, but they inexplicably cast a young looking 9 year-old to play him instead, and the child actor really wasn’t very good. Those two changes would have improved the movie dramatically.

2 is alright up until about halfway through the movie. When Obi Wan gets to Kamino and Anakin goes to Naboo, the movie completely falls apart. The stuff on geonosis is fun, but makes zero logical sense. It’s a bad movie full of dumb plot, bad acting, and worse pacing. It’s the worst star wars movie.

3 is f$&king great. It constantly oscillates between “so bad it’s good” and “actually, this is peak”. It’s the most rewatchable Star Wars movie, imo. It’s so over the top, but it owns it, and just keeps jumping the shark over and over again until you can no longer be cynical and just start enjoying how silly and absurd it is. I love this movie.

The prequels are still what they are, and bad, for the same reasons. There are no changing their flaws.

It doesn’t get emphasized in the movie, but out of over 200 Jedi who participated in the battle only 30 made it out alive. The Jedi rescue mission was a disastrous slaughter, but the movie treats it like a Boy Scout camp out. Unpopular take but Anakin, Padme, and Obi Wan’s life were not worth 200 dead Jedi.

Agreed, it’s my favorite actually.

I like II also, it adds so much to the lore that still carries on in media and games

For people like me who's in the over 55 crowd 1,2,3 was:

Star Wars
Empire Strike Back
Return of the Jedi

So I loved those true first 3

TPM is godawful. Terrible acting, a plot that makes less and less sense the more you apply any kind of logic to it, perhaps the worst miscasting of all time with Jake Lloyd, and oh yeah, Jar Jar motherfricking Binks.

AotC is better, but only because it's slightly less nonsensical. The dialogue is atrocious, though, and the "love story" is equal parts creepy and cringey.

RotS is the best of the three by a country mile, although it doesn't approach any of the OT.

The two best things you can say about the prequels are 1) They were made with a fully thought-out story in mind from the start - yes, that story didn't make a whole hell of a lot of sense, but it was there from the beginning, and 2) Even though it was objectively terrible in a lot of places, the prequel trilogy was made by someone who loved Star Wars. Those two facts alone make it light years better than the execrable sequel trilogy.

The prequels, especially III, have drastically improved because of what has been done in the clone wars series. Now, that is still a flaw in the movies, but that show has done so much to flesh out the story elements that were somewhat rushed. Heck, Anakin's scene in III when he is telling the council how unfair it is he isn't granted Master, in the movie your kind of like well thats a bit of an overreaction dude. Nah, after seeing all the things they've made him do for them that goes against the jedi code and how many times he has basically saved all of them, yea it was a very reasonable reaction.

III is a legit good movie (flawed but good). I and II have definite awesome moments, but just aren't good movies. Dialogue is a huge issue in all of them and really drags down the first two, giving them some very stiff performances. I always thought I and II should have been combined into one movie. Then could have an actual movie of the clone wars, and then have III with the ability to not have Anakin's true fall seem as rushed in the movie since you could show much more of his council issues in the second movie.

The one thing that the sequel movies really ended up showing, is how much the prequels just feel like star wars. I think that has been the biggest contributor to why they are viewed in a more favorable light now. You just don't get the same feeling watching the sequels, hard to describe. Then they were just awful in their own right as well, so the flaws in the prequels don't look nearly as bad in comparison.
