We would need to define Sci-Fi. A lot of people consider Star Wars fantasy. I personally lean toward it being Sci-Fi. Now a Fantasy tournament would be pointless because LotR would decimate everything.

I don't know if I can name 64 westerns I have seen, but I can give a top 5. Everyone else would have to do the rest.

That's not a bad idea. Would probably piss the movie/tv board grumps off but it would keep the elite 8 from being three star wars, two terminators, two Aliens, and 2001 a space odyssey.
I love westerns, probably my favorite genre, but I would have a hard time seeing Young Guns beat Once Upon A Time in the West and The Quick and the Dead beat High Noon. Seeing the classics go down in a western tournament simply because most people haven't watched the classics would be tough.

I'll have to look back but I actually don't think it was just a Disney/Pixar tournament. Seems like I remember The Iron Giant making a well deserved run. The Lion King was a worthy champ.
Edit: Yea, it was all animated. Round of 64. Shrek as an 8 seed is wild.

I thought we did horrors and westerns as well.
And I thought we did Sci-Fis twice as well

Could be. You’d have to put some sort of parameters on it though. Like common ones or popular ones or budget minimums. Otherwise everybody would just be naming random shite nobody has ever heard of.

I like being able to pick only one movie per series, although it's kind of cheating. Empire is the best Star War's movie, but could it stand on its own without A New Hope doing all the character backstory?
The Terminator, Ex Machina, Children of Men, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy are all sci-fi. Galaxy Quest and Starship Troopers and Event Horizon, are up there with The Martian and Project Hail Mary, and Interstellar?
The Matrix vs Aliens? Johnny Mnemonic vs Oblivion? Arrival vs Independence Day?
Point is, Sci-fi is a broad scope, may be better off chopping it up into sub generes, Space, Robots, etc.

I'd say The Exorcist is a better horror movie than Halloween. I'd say there are actually a number of better horror movies, and honestly I'd say it's debatable whether Halloween is even the best "relentless mysterious serial killer" movie (Friday The 13th and some others are up for discussion).
I would say Halloween might be in line for best Halloween holiday movie... it's a must-watch going into Halloween. A lot of horror movies aren't tied to the holiday.
What about 'coming of age' movies, like Breakfast Club, American Graffiti, American Pie, Risky Business etc? Have we done one of those recently? If so, who won?
