David Tennant's fake American accent coming up in Gracepoint.

In Britain, he normally uses a fake English accent (he's Scottish), with notable exceptions.

Yvonne Strahovski is Aussie. On Chuck and Dexter she has no trace of an Aussie accent.

Strahovski had a fairly pronounced accent when she first came to the States, obviously not when she was in character except for one quick throwaway scene where she pretended to be an Aussie scientist, but it was loud and proud when she did interviews. From what I've heard recently its toned down quite bit from what it used to be.

Karen Gillan did a fine flat American accent in Guardians of the Galaxy. She didn't have a ton of lines in the movie though, which is a shame. Shaving her head and going through the makeup process alone should have gotten her at least one more villainous monologue.

Alice Eve from She's Out Of My League is British...
I saw her in a couple of other things with an American accent and thought she was doing a fake British accent in Entourage until I saw her in an interview...

She is ridiculously hot...

Jason from True Blood(Ryan Kwanten) has a thick Australian accent. Blew my mind first time I heard him

Agreed. His character's accent is so dead on I would have bet money the actor was from Winnsboro, Jena, etc.

Stephen Moyer (True Blood's Bill Compton) is English.

I know several Australians and they all have almost completely lost the accent after living here.

On the contrary to this, Phillip Winchester on Strike Back is American but plays an Englishman. Watched an interview and was blown away. His English accent is very good.

How do you come up with an American accent?

Does it seem as weird for British people when Americans try to speak with a British accent?

It's strange, in my time in the UK a lot of people were able to do respectable american accents and it's incredibly rare for an American to pull of a british accent. American accents are more laid back then british accents. That's all I can really come up with. Very weird.
