Outstanding book and movie. It’s on TV tonight, and I didn’t remember how many stars were in this movie. McConaughy, Bullock, Jackson, Spacey, both Sutherlands, Oliver Platt, and the list goes on.

I did a presentation in high school on the
‘What Would You Do’ speech- so great

Who was hotter drenched in sweat, Ashley Judd or Sandra Bullock?

This movie leads one to believe that there is no air conditioning in Mississippi.

If you didn’t know any better it was filmed in a country with no functioning air conditioners

Ashley Judd may as well have been in the shower the entire movie the way she glistens

I was 9 or 10 when the movie came out. Back then my parents would take us to the movies and they would go to one show while we went to another. I specifically remember going to the Brady Bunch movie with my sister and cousins while my parents saw ATTK. Our instructions were to come to their theater when our movie was done. We walked in and sat down during the scene where Ro-Ark was being strung up by the KKK in her black panties. My mom was horrified and I had no real concept of what was happening other than I probably got my first erection watching

One of my favorite books. Never saw the movie because I knew they would screw it up

Agreed. I read the book, then saw the movie. Great adaptation.

Recently read the 2nd Jake Brigance book (Sycamore Row) and just started the 3rd (A Time for Mercy).

Both sequel books are good but now when I read the books I can't help but see young McConaughy as Brigance, young Ashley Judd as his wife, and young Oliver Platt as Harry Rex Vonner.

You’re doing yourself a disservice because this is one of the nest adaptations you’ll ever watch.

Seems like whenever I watch a movie or tv show that is supposedly in the south everyone is all sweaty.

Don't they have AC in the south?

I was on a school trip to Greece in the mid-90s and on the flight back they showed this movie. I remember thinking this was an interesting way to introduce foreigners to race relations in the South.

This was back when they would show only one movie at a time on planes and you could use headphones for the audio if you wished. Dark times indeed.
