I was not extremely crazy about the ending, like others here, and I believe there were a lot of unexplained things
I was thinking more about the movie and people who didn't like the ending. I think a Signs comparison points to why I like the end.
Signs lost me because the weakness to water was basically pulled out of a hat, made no sense in relation to the aliens and was a weakness that would have been revealed the first tine it rained.
A Quiet Place, the weakness was an organic part of the monsters. They had super hearing abilities, so they were particularly susceptible to sound weapons. It made total sense that Krasinski would be trying to build a hearing aid too.
As for unanswered questions, I liked that. Too many movies are 90 minutes of tension ruined by 15 minutes of forced exposition scenes that kill momentum. Quiet Place was 90 minutes of tension. Adding exposition would have detracted from the edge of your seat thing that was the best part.
At the end, I knew what I needed to. I didn't need the backstory on where the monsters came from, heck, in that world, the people themselves didn't know. The movie wasn't scared to be itself and do the things it would naturally do.

I looked up the origin and I think John Krazinski said their homeworld was destroyed and somehow go to earth travelling through space on an asteroid or something. Their armor is so tough they didnt need a ship or something. Answers some questions about the military not killing them.

I'm super late to the party. Just watched it last night in my bedroom with my gf who refuses to watch scary movies. Guess I was sweet enough recently where she tolerated it.
Anyway, I liked it a lot. From reviews and other people talking about it, I thought it was gonna be a life changing film for me, so I was slightly let down, but still enjoyed it. Definitely left me wanting more.
I enjoyed the silence, the minimalism, and the cinematography. The little boy getting whacked in the beginning was awesome and set up the rest of the movie to where you weren't sure what could happen.

I was stunned to see a movie in 2018 with so little spoken dialogue
The beginning where it is dead silent for like half the movie, I couldn't stop thinking how much I would love a world where everyone was very quiet with everything they do. So much more peaceful

I just saw the remake of Signs, I mean A Quiet Place, and found it very entertaining. I honestly did.
But I was led to believe this was some uniquely terrific movie. That it is not...
1) Family all alone being targeted on a farm by fast moving sneaky creatures
2) One of the kids is sick and it protects him/her from being killed (asthma and deafness)
3) Alien weakness is very basic and related to a quirk of one of the kids (water cups and hearing aids)

Bumping an old thread, just watched this movie.
Kids in these movies always cause problems.
They tell the daughter that it was not her fault when it absolutely was her fault. She gave the shuttle back to the younger brother. She doesn't do that, the situation never happens.
Seems irresponsible to get knocked up given their situation.
How are you going to keep a baby quiet all the time?
sort of like the things in stranger things only with teeth.
The dad was the brains, not sure how they will survive long without him.
how did the creature get into the soundproof room?
How did it get into the grain silo and back to the ground? Do the fly? climb walls?
I found myself trying to be quiet during the whole movie.

It isn’t. It’s the parents fault. They should have been watching their very small child in a post apocalyptic environment.

If only there was a sequel to tell us how
quote:
Was the mom already pregnant from the start?
No, the movie makes it very clear by saying this pregnancy happened over a year after the invasion began.

yeah, this is helpful.

yeah, this seems pretty irresponsible.

Saw the Day One movie earlier this week. Sucked pretty bad. Nothing really happens that changes anything to reveals anything to the broader plot and they just made it into a bunch of war of the worlds/ Jurassic park type scenes mashed with a decent personal story that is hindered by the totally nonsense decision and plot devices surrounding it
There’s a seemingly magical cat that is nearly the main character of the movie and pretty much everything that happens with the cat is so absurd in so many ways I couldn’t deal with it
really trying to squeeze this franchise dry of any dollar it can at this point
