I liked it but I felt really awkward eating popcorn in there. It was like that scene from Family Guy where Peter is eating chips in Anne Frank's attic

The people sitting behind me and in front where chomping on popcorn through the previews but both stopped a few minutes after the movie started. I think they realized how loud it was in a silent theater.

No, but he’s excellent. Best performance in the movie by far imho.

He's proven in the past few years to be a great actor but he's not allowed to ever shave that beard because if he does, he'll turn right back into Jim and nobody will be able to unsee it.

I had no such decency.

Just go to out and I loved it. John Krasinski hit a homerun with this one. I was stunned to see a movie in 2018 with so little spoken dialogue

It had a PIXAR feel to it in a sense where the characters had to tell a story without dialogue. Many of the shorts, Wall-E, UP come to mind.

i am not normally a big fan of horror films, but i had agreed to see this one if the wife went to see Super Troopers 2.

i was blown away at how good it was - such a great film and definitely high up my movie list.

Just got out. Awesome movie. The suspense was killer at times.

Saw this one yesterday instead of Solo. Great movie! Lot of suspense and just a good story overall. The scene where she picks up the baby and the creature comes out of the water...damn, that was good cinematography. Glad I got to see it in the theater and I see why it’s getting so much acclaim.

I liked how when things started going bad, it snowballed...and they tried to revert to their disaster protocol, but it didn't work.

So many movies these days would have that be part of the first act that sets up a useless second half of the film.

The film was trimmed and worked.

I just saw it for the first time last night.

Really a great movie that demonstrates how well minimalism works in horror movies.

No backstory for the creatures. The movie just throws you into them being there and hunting.

Very little dialogue. It set the movie's tension up so well having long periods and entire horror sequences acted out in total silence.

Almost no side characters. Other than the family, there's the old guy who gets killed about 10 seconds into his screen time and all he does is scream. That's it.

The minimalism worked perfectly. Really enjoyed it.

I'm not a fan of horror and liked this. It was unique and gripping. I also thought the first Insidious was very good.

And were the signal fires at the beginning other families? They didn’t go into much detail there either.

I assumed they must be in contact with the other families and trading with them. If not, Jim and fam eat the hell out of some corn.

Also thought it was a bad idea to leave for the day with your wife THAT pregnant.

I kept wondering why they got pregnant in the first place. It was 400 and something days in so they knew the risks. It would be impossible to raise a baby and then a toddler without them ever making a loud noise.

... because the human species would go extinct without people getting pregnant?

You're not gonna be doing much repopulating when every time your toddler throws a fit or knocks something over your family is attacked by aliens.

And if the plan is to keep him in the soundproof room, that's pretty shitty for the kid.

eta- I enjoyed the hell out of the movie though, so to answer this question, I'll just assume they got carried away a time or two and it was unplanned.

I was impressed they could do it with both the kids around and without making any loud noises. It has to suck knowing you either have to talk dirty in sign language or you might be dead.
