I'm about 45 minutes in...so far it seems every bit as bad as Quentin Tarantino says. Should I write off the 45 minutes and shitcan it or press on?

Also, Juliette Lewis is the a mystery wrapped in a riddle in that she is hot and unattractive at the same time.

Yeah, it's pretty shitty for the most part. I do enjoy the last 30 mins or so more than anything up until that point. Basically once the prison interview starts until the end.

I liked it and what it had to say about the media. It's surrealistic satire but many people missed the point and just see it as a hyperviolent movie. The laugh track for the scene at Mallory's house is brilliant.

It is possible to both recognize what the movie was trying to do and also think it's terrible. Because it is a pretty shitty movie, even if it delivers its message fairly efficiently.

I liked Robert Downey Jr's sleazy portrayal of a Geraldo like journalist that shows up later in the movie.

I walked out on that movie when it was in theaters. It is absolute trash. Kalifornia did it better, and I didn't like that movie very much either.

Haven't seen it in years, but I enjoyed it as a 20 something year old, even though its a little too violent/brutal for my tastes.

Saw it at the Metairie Galleria in 1990-whatever when it came out.

Was really hoping to like it, but it sucked.

Ive never watched it again.

Cabin Boy was better.

It is a muddled mess but can still be a fun watch.

It is referred to as “the most expensive student film ever made” because of all the weird shite Stone did while filming it including the foul mouthed Mallory sitcom, animated bits, color washed stuff, etc.

That being said, Robert Downey Jr and Juliette Lewis do good with what they had to work with. Woody Harrelson as a psycho isn’t as much a stretch for him as it was coming off of Woody Boyd on Cheers.

I loved this movie as a teen. In hindsight, pretty sure Stone was shitting on people like me.

Same with Beavis and Butthead.

Plot & story were fine, and the violence didn’t bother me. The filming &!production quality was crap.

Replace "Metairie Galleria" with "random theater in Winston-Salem" and this would have been my post.

It's one of those movies that seems better if you're stoned, but that doesn't make it good, just more interesting.
