ETA: And who is this marketed toward? A bunch of 45 year old dudes from the 90's?

Yeah they'll figure out a way to ruin it. I don't have high hopes for this, even though was a incredible product.

Yeah, the only reason I’m not hopeless on the Avatar deal is Paramount have given Mike and Bryan a shite ton of money and full creative control over the franchise, but I do worry if they’ve become too Woke (Bryan specifically). Korra and Asami ending up together was appropriate in the sequel series, but I hope they keep it organic and not Woke like they have in the past.

The Phoenix Saga and The Dark Phoenix Saga will never be topped.

I still don’t get how the X-Men movies didn’t try to incorporate some version of that music into the movies.

Probably b/c Fox more or less hitched their wagon to Brian Singer and he actively hated a lot of aspects of the IP. He didn't even allow X-Men comics on set for the actors to learn about the characters.

It's what made the abysmal film version even worse.
Why didn't the film include the M'Kraan Crystal? Why didn't they include the entire intergalactic Shi'ar plotline? Hell, wasn't Scott Summers' space pirate dad even in that Saga?

That story has enough to span multiple films and be great, yet Sony/Marvel/whomever, completely shite the bed on every aspect.

Our only hope for a decent Phoenix saga on film is that the MCU takes it on. Could definitely be a saga that culminates in an Avengers movie.

I never got the attraction,

For me the attraction was that it was the first actual X-Men cartoon AND that it was done in a quality way for cartoons at the time (having that and Batman: TAS at the same time put Fox on the map for Saturday morning cartoons).

Personally, I would rather have had the original team going through their original adventures (updated to match the times though) or else just start where Giant-Size X-Men started and go from there (replacing Morph with Thunderbird and Jubilee with Kitty), but that's just me.

This is going to be complete shite*

*Caveat: Unless the entire old team is involved, in which case I give it a 50-50.

Comic books in general, but especially Xmen, were all the rage at that time in the early-mid 90s. Action figures were huge, xmen arcade and video games were huge, as were trading cards, and other memorabilia, but they also were not the corporate soulless Disney-ruined property it is today and still had some underground purity to it.

The cartoon perfectly captured the xmen vibe at the time. The voice acting and production were all top quality and they followed the comics perfectly.

Can we bring back the Spider-Man 90s show as well? It was very well done too.
