Alex’s family is now a branch of the Dutton Family. Maybe they bought a percentage of the Ranch becoming possible silent owners and taking a percentage of any profits that would convert back to Alex and Spencer upon their death.
Of maybe, Alex’s family gives her a sum of money upon them heading to Montana from England and they use some of that to pay the taxes. Not a handout, it’s all family money now.

Read a spoiler that Rainwater may meet up with “Sam”, Elsa’s husband, as an older man at the Comanche Reservation they are headed too.
Would be an interesting twist if that encounter with Rainwater somehow brought Sam to the Yellowstone and he fought with the Duttons and died there at Elsa’s grave after helping save the ranch. It would close the loop on Elsa’s and his story.
He might hear of Elsa’s fate from Tenaua’s father.

There was a lot of fricked up shite that was done to the Native Americans from the 1880s until about the WWII era.
These "Indian Schools" could be pretty brutal places for kids to be. They were not altruistic boarding schools . They were akin to re-education camps with harsh "discipline".
Anyway, those nuns had it coming....as did the priest who had his soul eaten. Getting in a man's face like that....out there, he was asking for it.

I just watched the finale.
Overall, it was just weak, lazy writing. Tayler Sheridan has too many irons in the fire and its showing in both Yellowstone and 1923.
The whole storyline with the hookers is just filler and gratuitous. Then to introduce a new story arc (Asian wife) without closing off any of the existing ones, felt disjointed. I get he's trying to show the world is changing, but it just feels not well written. Finally, there is no suspense around keeping the ranch or not, we know it's still in the family 100 years later so there is no way they lose it.

I saw that 1944 is expected to be December 2024 or early 2025.
