In any case, and I’m not a legal guy, but I just chalked it up to “it’s in 1923.” They also got into a fist fight in the courtroom and the judge just told them to cut that shite out.

That's how I saw it.
While that seemed a bit unbelievable, the sheep fricker telling Dutton he's going to die, saying this out loud in the courtroom, was even more ridiculous.
And his comments basically admitting to it in front of the sheriff are just ignored like it never happened. (That's a Sheridan trademark)
I mean, I know it's fiction and the story has to have some edge and drama to it, but that's so over the top it's comical.

I'm sure it happened, but roving gangs of priests just nabbing native americans on sight for being surly is high comedy to me. I want to see a spinoff called "The Body of Christ" where these priests rove the frontier absconding with any Native American they choose without plot armor.

It was not long ago the Pope apologized for the genocide and other atrocities the Catholic church did to Native Americans in North America. Just because not covered much in history books does not mean it did not happen. Just saying.

I do enjoy the period aspect of it (the Africa portion is much easier on my sensibilities than the Catholics killing Indians are). The Montana scenery is beautiful. Some of the characters are interesting.
I also watch Heartland, that 90s show, and Below Deck so my television bar is not set very high.

True enough…suspension of disbelief is really necessary in most fictional shows. Somehow, though, in the vastness of GoT (minus the season of which we do not speak) and HP, I find fewer incidents that bother me—or maybe just a lower ratio. Dementors? Ok. Commit to it. Make it believable and I am with you. Jon Snow resurrection? Sell it well and I will buy. There’s too much too soon that I can’t buy in 1923.
Agreed on enjoying the scenery and some of the characters. I will watch Yellowstone to the bitter end. Hell, I will watch all of 1923 just to look at Spencer!

What happened to just watching a show for what it is, and not nitpicking every second of the show.
I watch this and any other show for entertainment and an escape from day to day life. Looking for something to complain about isn’t even on my radar.

Believe me, I don’t nitpick every second on this or any show. I watch TV for escape as much as anyone and watch a LOT of stupid crap. We watch Love Boat reruns on Saturday night,for God’s sake. But this discussion is about what we think of 1923, and a general complaint that many seem to have is that it seems to drag some and have some plot issues. Ending an episode on a cliffhanger and then moving on in the next as if it never happened? That’s not a nit pick. That’s a major post-production oversight.

Some thoughts
1) I'll join the chorus on the show being slow
2) The Rainwater arc didn't fit with the tone of the show. It never tied into the Dutton in any way whatsoever. Would be practically unwatchable for anyone who'd never seen Yellowstone before
3) Jack Dutton's wife might be the worst actress I've ever seen and he isn't all that much better.
4) The Spencer stuff was easily the best part of the show but it felt like the first half of the season they had intentions of finishing his story in one season, then halfway through they decided to make it 2 seasons so they slow-played his entire arc to a halt. They added a bunch of stupid crap like the capsized boat, sharks, the royals coming back, etc.
5) What did they have to pay Ford and Mirren to get them to act a second season of this awful writing

The Titanic sideshow was incredible.
We LOL'd when frog boy, poor man's Billy Zane went over board. That was ABSURD but so awesome at the same time.

The schools were probably paid based on number of students.
So there would be incentives to finding wayward yutes and forcing them into schools.

I wouldn’t mind the pace of the show so much if the season was longer. I have a feeling that watching season 1 and 2 back to back would be really solid. Last night would have been a fine mid season finale with a one month break, but waiting a year or more to see any resolution sucks.
