I like how when they first start they decide to get cattle so they won't starve. They get like 100 cows. Then later when they are getting low on food they are in panic mode saying they're about to starve. Yet the cows were still with them. You telling me those cowboys and the farmer couldn't figure out how to get meat out of a cow?

Shea commented they needed a butcher/Cook for the cattle or they would waste most of the meat by not butchering it properly.

I know that many immigrants did indeed perish on the Oregon trail and other routes, but these Germans are portrayed as extremely helpless, naïve, and downright pitiful. Might be accurate, I don't know.

I think they’ll have Elsa display her inner Beth Dutton for a while.

Knew she would go off on the guy who killed her man.

Now "sees the world through her mother's eyes". She went from innocent young girl to bitter young woman in one episode.

It’s questionable if Elsa makes it to Montana from the opening scene of the series. She is going to have to be extremely lucky to survive an arrow to the gut with no one else around to help her. (Who knows where James and her mother are)

James definitely makes it to Montana because he sets up the homestead there. The scene in Yellowstone seems to be years later. (I always wondered how he never realized he was shot before he got home)

I don't think she does. My guess is 1883 is her series, then they'll be another on with the kid boy as he settles Yellowstone.

Her narrating this series is her internal thoughts as she's dying.

Could be but you never know with Sheridan. John Dutton took multiple rounds to the chest and survived.

I think it’s just a dream sequence. She’s the star of the show, along with her dad. Obviously her dad makes it but it would be shite if Elsa doesn’t make it. If she does die then it’s her baby that will probably be John Dutton’s dad.

My wife and I were joking that every movie or show when a couple bangs for the first time, they always get pregnant

Because ya know, it’s just that easy

Is Elsa & Tom's pronunciation of words with "wh" in them driving anybody else crazy?

I'm pretty sure her little brother is his dad.

Edit: Nevermind....apparently I can't math that good.

And how would that work, for either of them?
John Dutton was born in what, the 50's or 60's? You think this kid born in 1883, or the brother who was born 10 years earlier is going to have a kid when he's around 70?

Tim McGraw is John Dutton's great grandfather.

There’s another boy besides John in the flashback. I assume she has a baby and then dies shortly after. The story will follow John and James at some point. Just my guess.

Doh...didn't do the math. Was going by Tim's son being named John Dutton Sr. in closed captioning.

Kinda upset that Ennis died. He was becoming my favorite character. He and Wade completely pass as 2 dudes from 1883. Elsa, however, looks completely out of place. Perfect teeth, slim with big cans, much too pretty to be a farmer's daughter on the Oregon Trail. And her accent is terrible, which has been stated by others as well.
