AI companies aren't exactly known for giving credit or paying royalties.

Absolutely it can, and likely will.

How much are you willing to pay for this service, both in subscription fees and higher energy bills?

I hate AI. I think it is going to do more harm than good. One day AI will be so advanced. That you won't be able to distinguish AI from reality.

It would just be for silly entertainment and background noise:
Description: Aliens invade and dinosaurs rise out of earthquakes while main character tries to keep his local basement bar open for a group of friends and regulars. Make it a comedy with 24 twenty minute installments.
(Norm enters)
“Norm!”
“What’s up Norm?”
“A pterodactyl with a Gorn in its mouth”

I thought it would be interesting to do this by feeding a book into AI that I would like to see in movie form that would most likely never be made. I think having something tailored to my personal taste would be a nice option with the majority of media thats out there not being things I care to spend time watching. AI generated content and film could possibly live with each other somehow, but I don't have an answer.

It's slop today, and most people agree most of the manmade stuff out there is slop.
In five years if it's 20x better, will it still be slop?

It is fun to say that kind of thing. . .but if it works, and drives costs down, Simon will use it, or disappear.

Asmomgold nailed it.
Whatever you think of AI, this is the worst it will ever be.

I like to think art by humans will still be appreciated above all else, but where is that line drawn?
I can also see where this may lead to a lot of really bad movies, but also a lot of good movies. There are tons of creative people out there capable of writing way better stories than most of the real ones. If they are no longer confined by the physical realities of bringing stories to life, such as budgets, actors, knowing the right people in Hollywood , etc, then it could be alright.
Time will tell.

I can certainly see a line of movies come out where you submit a couple of pictures, and a voice sample and you become the protagonist. Or you can replace any character with one of your friends.
I'm sure porn will perfect the technology first.

One day soon they’ll be doing it.
I for one and waiting for the video game version of this. Set the parameters and let it create. Then make adjustments on the fly.

Me: Grok, make me a movie about something that was popular and I liked in my childhood, but make it really shitty. Also include characters that I am familiar with, but make them pointless and pretty much unrecognizable as to what made them likable and interesting when I was young.
