one player doesn't cost a team a season, punching someone for a taunt ain't kosher(and as i learned neither is it kosher to punch someone that spits on you.... but it's safe wager he never spit on anyone again.

It's Zachary, nothing will happen to them. Their 12th player will be suspended for a game. No way they take away their season.

This multi season, multi sport melt is impressive.

Maybe it’s the Marine in me, but I would not be upset with my kid for reacting this way given the clear aggressor to the situation. I’d talk about composure given a situation to deescalate, but I wouldn’t be mad about it.

If another man stood over me like that, I’d better be in a Sonic parking lot because it’s about to go down.

I won’t pretend to be tapped into all sports in the state and LHSAA rulings, but I’m not sure how Zachary would be considered an equal part to Liberty, given the crowd on the court in a road game. Maybe the player, but not the team given what’s reported here in the thread?

If something similar has been ruled as a ban for both teams, then get it. Just seems like there is a clear aggressor to the brawl and otherwise it was two players.

There’s been other teams involved in fights this season and it seems like both teams get punished I haven’t seen just one team get punished. Supposedly tomorrow morning they will address a ruling

Including the crowd basically escalating the point where it got out of control?

From what we’ve read here, Liberty’s crowd was over the top to begin with. Then you have a Liberty player pulling some BS and a Zachary player standing his ground. Suspend the players, if anything, IMO.

If LHSAA has ruled on a crowd influenced brawl already this season, then sure - end both seasons. I just don’t know how that’s right if there’s a clear aggressor (not necessarily by player, but by a crowd causing a brawl).

If the benches cleared they won’t have anyone to play the next game which they play Catholic BR then the playoffs start so if they suspend players for the leaving the bench multiple games and they have no players to play they won’t be playing in the playoffs anyway

Which I get, but if we are talking about previous decisions… have the brawls been this crowd driven? I get the suspensions for brawls if it’s just teams against each other, but what exactly was Zachary’s bench supposed to do here?

Yeah I agree it was a messed up situation blown out of proportion by the fans. I’m just afraid the LHSAA will use this as a way to make a point that even the fans no matter what side can ruin it

Just saying aren't they the back to back defending champs? You really think they're going to just kick them out of the playoffs?

We will see tomorrow. The LHSAA rarely makes sense. I’m honestly not even sure what the right decision is here. I do not know any more than what’s been posted in this thread. two players should be able to get in a shoving match and it not end up in a brawl between fans and players.

Looking back years ago to the TC-ZHS decision - that was a terrible initial decision. I’ve been negative on LHSAA since then.

One thing I do know - this ain’t Reggie Torbors Lee high.

Players talking shite is a part of any game HS level and above. If #10 from Zachary wasn’t an instigator in a brawl, he could’ve also been T’d up for it if it went too far.

I don’t see why, based on the film we see here, the entire Zachary program should be in trouble. Suspend the players initially involved, but the crowd instigated that to where it went.

EDIT: I’d imagine Zachary would file another lawsuit here and get anything punitive to the program thrown out with haste.

But Zachary has a big problem on their hands...10 was talking trash all game and then threw the first punch which lead to absolute mayhem on both sides..refs did not have time to T anyone up at that point, it went from push to punch to benches/fans rushing the court in about 2 seconds...pretty sure the refs called over 30 fouls in the 1st half, but oddly rather than calming everyone down, it had the opposite effect...fans and coaches would lose their mind when refs "no called" something

Any Zachary player leaving the bench area is going to get an automatic suspension. We haven’t seen Liberty’s Hudl camera angle yet but the LHSAA will have it and it will show who came from the bench areas. I think Zachary’s best case scenario is a forfeit tonight against Catholic (if for nothing else not having enough eligible players) and then move forward with playoffs. That’s best case.

I don’t see how Liberty isn’t done. Fans punching players in the back of the head is completely inexcusable. People need to go to jail.
