Ask yourself one question... what kind of numbers would Barry Sanders have put up running behind that early 90s Cowboys O-line?
Not sure Barry would of followed the holes. He was unique, he liked to create or wait for his own holes. There isn't a RB like him, he's so different then anyone before him and after him.
And Jim Brown is best RB ever

No.
How is this even a question

Neither were exceptionally fast (Emmitt’s 40 wasn’t impressive, Barry generally always got caught from behind on his long runs) but I have to give Emmitt the edge because of that 1993 game he basically single-handedly won for the ‘Boys on a dislocated shoulder to assure them home-field and the 1 seed for their repeat run and his subsequent playoff and Super Bowl performance. Also, he was a SMART RB, knew when to take the short yards the defense gave him and an incomparable nose for the end zone, most prolific scoring RB in history. Emmitt had IT and IT made for an unstoppable legend.

Not even close.

You're an idiot.
Barry Sanders is at worst the second best running back in NFL history. Emmitt is not 10.

No, he wasn’t better.
I think the discussion has made Emmitt a bit underrated though. The guy was tough as nails. The 1993 game against the Giants in the Meadowlands is one of the best performances ever.
These two guys are not only different backs, but extremely different personalities. It makes the comparison even more unique. Emmitt had a level of desire we saw on the field that I’m not sure Barry matched. Maybe is Barry was on Super Bowl contenders, he would have. Who knows?

I’ve generally maintained an O-Line’s as good as the RB that runs behind and through it, how many all-pros the Dallas O-Linemen attain before Emmitt showed up? I thought so, Emmitt had probably the greatest back instincts and approach to the game of any back ever not named Jim Brown, Walter Payton, and OJ Simpson and that generated great consistency and constant production and greatness. The pile generally always moved forward with him and distinguished him as an all-time north-South runner. Plus he was tough as nails and elevated his performance in the big games.

It's not just the line. Good defense getting the Offense the ball back. A HOF QB with amazing WR's and an awesome TE.
Emmitt had a great all around team helping him achieve good #'s.
Barry Sanders would have stole the show on that team.
Eta...fixed autocorrect bs.

No, unless he retires midway through the season.

Hell no. Smith was the beneficiary of the best line in football.

For most the 90s, the Lions lacked the viable QB to run that Mouse Davis run and shoot until Scott Mitchell showed up, those wideouts were small, quick and insanely productive

Mouse Davis run and shoot? Son you've had enough internet for today.
