Doesn't mean they weren't good.

Patriots have been led by a 6th round QB for over a decade now!

The idea that Barry Sanders wouldn’t know what to do with a good offensive line is one of the dumbest takes in the history of sports

Better question is Barry vs Jim Brown. maybe walter payton.

Emmitt isn't even in the conversation.

Sanders behind the Cowboys OL would have put up Madden Numbers. . .set to rookie mode

Dallas ran an I-Formation set with Moose Johnson lead blocker, Sanders struggled the few times the Lions ran the I but was more effective running single-back in that Run and Shoot configuration, Barry was arguably the best RB in space the league has ever seen he thrives in that. I don't think your contention holds much water.

Barry's more effective in a one-back offense, not two-back with a fullback in front limits the amount of space he has to run with, that was evident when the Lions ran the I-Formation the first 2 games of his 2K season and he only gained 53 rushing yards TOTAL

You're going to get destroyed for that, but Emmitt is the better back if you just needed a few yards. And he probably was better catching the ball (though Barry had more yards per reception, I think). That said, you'd have to take Barry overall with the game breaking ability.

The game-breaking ability is nice but I prefer the consistent brilliance of Emmitt Smith, he's the all-time rushing TD leader for a reason and thats the bottom-line of football in the end

15 year career had alot to do with that

Mostly spent behind a line that dominated the line of scrimmage with Moose and Novacek to boot. . .and a great passing game with a HoF QB and WR that disallowed stacking the box.

When you played Detroit, your entire defensive gameplan was Sanders

This sounds exceedingly sour on Smith, which is not my intention. I love Emmitt, top 5-7 all time.

I just struggle to pick anyone over Sanders at RB

Eli Manning is #6 in all-time passing yards, and #8 in passing TDs. That dude must be awesome. He's #6 and #8 for a reason.

Barry Sanders averaged 99.8 yards per game

His lowest season mark ever was 1115 yards, the season he only played in 11 games

Emmitt was a short yardage touchdown machine, though

2 20 TD seasons and an 18 TD season helped out some too

Yeah against them, because it full of Saints fans who are blinded by their hate for Dallas, especially back then.

You really think it’s just Saints fans that don’t agree with the OP? Payton, Brown, and Sanders (not specifying order) are widely regarded as the best 3 RBs ever.

Sanders averaged almost a full yard per carry more than Smith over their careers. How is this a question?

No. BS was the GOAT running back and I think it’s undisputed.
