LSU could pay that with funds made by the baseball regional if they wanted to

Has really nothing to do with my point that college sports was a Marxist experiment

And by nothing you mean everything of course. Because college sports are entirely voluntary, and the nfl is not college.

I actually have B12 friends who try to tell me that college football is a money loser; even at the big schools.

Maybe at the current B12 schools.

OU and Texas made bank while there.

or every sport but football Football is the only sport that effectively requires players to go to college to become a pro.

Not true. Mike Sellers is an example. He was a terrible student and was unable to get into any colleges, so did a year at JUCO, where he failed as a student, and then jumped to the CFL for a couple of seasons before having a solid NFL career.

Sounds like a class action lawsuit should be taken to the NFL then. This shouldn't be a problem for the universities or NCAA to have to consider.

It was the NCAA problem when they are using football to make money for the university and cover the cost of the AD while players are regulated to bagmen and punished for accepting that money if caught

Even the exception, still went to college albeit a JUCO.

Men's hockey is revenue positive at most schools that have it. Wrestling is revenue positive at the schools where it is popular. There are women's basketball and volleyball programs that are revenue positive.

But I agree, we've gone beyond the mission of the thought is that each sports program should be cash flow positive. They won't, they were never designed to. And there is nothing wrong with that. It's supposed to be about the student-athlete experience.

No it wasn’t, because the ncaa was still a 100% voluntary organization.

Diego pavia completely ruined this argument when he sued the ncaa earlier this year to get more eligibility because he could make more money there than he would anywhere in pro football.

College sports were once the great American communist experiment

How did the athletes own the means of production

What it's turning into would be closer to communism

Would have been able to go to CFL regardless.

Washington, USC, etc. wanted him if he had the grades.

Iowa states athletic department made $10 million dollars in profit in 2023 after a metric shite ton of waste and now they want to cry poor because they don’t get to keep all the money. It’s total bullshite, and people want to blame the athletes. Pathetic

And then came the NIL explosion. In 2024, they made $72,000.

Just make football minor league. Hell, I’m ready for schools to just sink their FB teams to FCS. It’s crazy that institutions of higher learning are being driven by a football team.
