With the Sorsby news, why would anyone listen to the NCAA anymore?

Hell at this point, we shouldn’t have any player that is ineligible.

Why would anyone sit out for any reason?

Get ruled out for the first half of the next game due to targeting? Not making your grades? Wanted for second-degree murder? Just want to keep playing because you feel like it even if you’re out of eligibility?

Just have them file an emergency injunction with a friendly EBR judge the next week and they’ll be good to go.

Maybe this is the straw that breaks the camel’s back and we’ll start to see some changes and actual structure again, but it’s sad this is what college sports has become.

It's shocking. From what I read, the judge's decision effectively amounts to, "Sorsby broke the rules but punishing him would cause suffering so I won't let the NCAA do it." That's it, that's the logic.

No one is ineligible on stolen land.

What transpired today effectively nullifies all NCAA eligibility requirements.

They won't.

I think this is the NCAA's last stand...and it might not even be willing to take that stand.

Maybe Congress saves it?

This has me so twisted up - a shoe in hall of famer died after thirty years of fighting for his eligibility and the random district judge can make it go away in thirty days - it’s an absolute sham at this point

Florida should ask for Tim Tebow to come back at 39. Instant Natty for Florida. I know this is different from Sorsby, but why not?

Why should a Tech player listen to the coach? If Sorsby can break a golden rule then curfews, classes and shite like that don't matter.

The only way college sports can be saved at this point is by the University presidents.

The need to collectively reinforce the NCAA, add a commissioner, a board, anti trust protections, something. This is a runaway train and it is falling off a cliff.

It cannot be fixed.

Sorry, there is no going back.

How, within the current legal framework that has appeared around college sports, do you fix this?

Well the NCAA has to double down and ignore a texas judge. If the players ruled eligible by a judge then the ncaa needs to go after TTs record and membership standing with both barrels.

Escalation needs to happen or else the ncaa can't enforce its own eligibility requirements across the board. It would be the most public support the ncaa has had in years, probably decades.

I agree. The NCAA should push, hard.

The NCAA should not recognize the official results of any game TT plays in.

They probably won’t but the system needs to burn. Completely

The NCAA should. But 1980s SMU is licking their chops on this ruling.

Until there is a collective bargaining agreement between players and teams, there are no rules.

I'll flip it:

Why is the NCAA abiding by rulings from local judges whose rulings have no authority beyond state lines?

Why would university presidents who have their own coaches cheat and lie for decades do anything? Auburn bought Cam and the collective presidents did nothing. Same with player after player. This is nothing new. These presidents allow illiterates to be accepted into their vaunted schools of higher education just because they can run and jump and you want them to take a stand? Come on. They are all getting rich off the grift. You can be darn sure Sorsby will be QB 1 on opening day unless a higher court gets involved.
