If so, the league has lost all credibility.

The fact that the NFL hasn't even made a public statement shows the league has no credibility anyway IMO

He's probably doing the super bowl. And there were 2 refs watching the play.

This issue will be dead in 2 weeks, will be brought back up briefly when the competition committee meets over the summer, and then be dead again after that

Sad but true. No one will care until it happens to someone like the cowboys.

Kinda like how the cowboy idiots on here talked shite about bounty gate for years until goodell went after Zeke in the same bullshite dictatorship way.

Coach Payton is on the competition committee. This will not go away that soon.

The ability to challenge a penalty sounds good in theory. But in actuality it’s just terrible terrible idea.

It looked like one of them was trying to run over and discuss the call and the other guy waved him off.

I know people have downvoted what is said but it’s true. At most they will get a 2 game suspension

To call playoff games you have to be highly rated and thus highly regarded. They aren’t firing a veteran crew over 1 call unless they show it was intentional

As pissed as I still am, I don’t want to ruin the guys career. Would I be glad if some teepee’d his house, Hell Yeah. But I dont want physical harm to him or his life to be negatively effected. Outside of some eggs thrown on his car and some skittles in the lawn. You know, harmless pranks.

Of course they have to address it. An official's call, or non-call, determined who is going to the Super Bowl. All reviews come from the booth in the last two minutes, you simply have expand what they can review to pass interference and targeting type plays. Maybe even let coaches include them as challengable.

You can challenge pass interference in the CFL. 20/42 PIs challenged were overturned this season.

He’ll be the head of referees one day. His next bonus is going to be huge. He did the NFL a huge favor.

The problem I have with that is what if the refs are “letting them play” and then when you review the call the officials have to make the determination based on the letter of the law.

There's a difference between letting them play and egregious ones.

I think we can all agree there's a difference.

BB said it best a few years ago. You should be able to challenge these type of plays and calls/no calls in the final 2 minutes because they occur so late in a game they can change the outcome. You can get over a bad call in the beginning because there's time. It's hard to when you're crunched for it.

Bingo. There have been worse calls in bigger games and everyone is super outraged for about them for a week. The public has very short attention spans.

The NFL at this point knows they can do whatever they want with impunity and there will never be any consequences. Casual fans aren't passionate enough to care. Hardcore fans bitch a lot but still breakdown and watch every week.
