Maybe the best right hand hitter of modern baseball. Played in 1 WS. 0 WS rings.

Maybe he can get traded to the Dodgers

Was Dan a huge reason why his team couldn’t win a SB?

That is an insult to Marino

Marino was tough, whereas Judge is coddled and is hiding in the shadows this postseason.

Marino tore his Achilles late in his career, rehabbed and came back like a boss. Judge sits out a post season series because of calf soreness.

he is the James Harden of baseball. He does not deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Marino

A huge reason? No. But he shares more of the blame for Miami’s dismal performance in Super Bowl XIX and the Dolphins never at least returning to the big game than most people give him.

He also played on some loaded Pitt teams in college (lost with the #1 ranked team in 1981 and 1982 and was one of four future Pro Football Hall of Famers on the 1980 team) and couldn’t put it together when it mattered most then either.

And I don’t know much about Judge and his apparent postseason failures, but an MLB position player isn’t nearly as important to team success as an NFL quarterback.

Immediately after supreme loser Trent Grisham struck out to end the season, the camera panned over to Judge’s sorry arse in street clothes. One of the most pathetic things I’ve ever seen.

He actually just opted out of the post season this year. Incredible.

If you go look at his performances in games where his team got eliminated from the playoffs, yes he played a pretty big part of why they never could win a Super Bowl

Slightly obscure stat: after his second year in the NFL, he had more INTs than TDs in postseason games. His play off numbers are a whole lot worse than you remember.

The NFC was so strong during Marino’s career that I don’t really blame him for not winning a Super Bowl. I do, however, think he should have made it there more than once if he were as good as some people think.

Marino’s legacy is built almost entirely on two things:

1. The stretch from the beginning of the 1984 season through the Bears upset in 1985.

2. High volume passing (led the NFL in attempts five times) that led to records - but not always a lot of efficiency.

I don’t think Marino’s legendary 1984 season that everyone talks about is overrated, but I do think it’s overemphasized in the context of a career that spanned 16 years.

Marino reminds me a little bit of Mike Powell, who set the long jump world record (still stands) at the 1991 Worlds in Tokyo. He has the greatest legal jump of all time but lost to Carl Lewis in literally every other competition and never won an Olympic gold.

Similar to Powell, Marino was supernatural for one season and then just good/great the rest of his career with other quarterbacks being more efficient - especially in the postseason.

Holy cow, yeah I did not realize that.

I didn’t start watching NFL football until after he was done, so all ive ever known is what people say about him.

And he received VERY high praise from a ton of folks.
