Why TCU got in the CFP
Posted by Jon Ham

TCU got in the playoff for two reasons:
1) Misinformation campaign about how many “ranked teams” they beat, and
2) Bama fatigue
Look at this schedule, and look at records of the teams they beat. I x’d the rankings of the teams who are no longer ranked.
Essentially, the CFP committee was so fricking impressed that TCU went 1-1 against 9-3 Kansas State (who lost to a G5 school) that they felt this TCU team, who couldn’t win their shite conference, who didn’t dominate their shite conference, and who had a weak arse non-con schedule, undoubtedly deserved to be rated higher than a SEC powerhouse who lost two games on the road against top 25 SEC teams via a final play.
People were so misinformed about TCU’s wins and so tired of Bama, they were willing to just erase everything they knew about the comparative strength of the SEC vs Big 12. Stupid and sad.
But since we are here now, let’s go TCU. I’d love to see them win it all.

the big 12 actually went 25-5 out of conference and most computers rank it as the best conference

K-State is a better win than any team Bama beat.
When KSU beats the Tide in the Sugar Bowl, I’m sure you’ll be the first in here to wave that away.
Having better talent does mean you have.a better team.

Does it anger you that a small private school in Fort Worth is more respected nationally than Arkansas?

wrong, and wrong.
They got in because they had 1 loss (to bama's 2), they played for their conference title (unlike bama), they had better wins than bama (including beating the same team considered bama's "best"), and their single loss was by 3 to a quality team in OT. Bama's 2 losses were to teams that combined to lose 6 games and counting.
It's not nearly as complicated as poeple want to make it out to be. If you lose 2 games in the regular season, you aren't making the palyoffs. Period. Done. End of story.

Did you watch Alabama this year? They weren’t a great team. They could have easily lost 3 Big 12 games this year.

It's not black/white on how those teams finished vs when TCU beat them. In the moment, they were big games vs teams that were at least hot at that point in the season. Of course you have to account for the opponents season when grading a win but the impact of TCUs victory in each game can't be ignored.

They had a common opponent in Texas that Bama only beat by one and TCU beat by 7
I’m actually surprised that bias in favor of Bama didn’t get them in. But good for the committee for not rewarding Bama and letting them backdoor their way into playing for a national title yet again after not winning their division and getting to sit at home on conference championship weekend while teams who finished the regular season in the top 4 have to play an extra game to keep their CFP spot

Bama would have slept walked to a Big 12 championship.
The only common opponent that TCU/Bama had was Texas and TCU beat Texas by more than Bama and Bama got to play Texas with backup QB for majority of game.

LOL what fantasy world are you guys living in where KSU and TCU are above the SEC?

How about the fact that TCU only lost one game while Bama lost two? The Committee doesn't give a shite about resume or bad losses or anything like that. See Washington getting in with a non-conference schedule of Rutgers, Idaho, and Portland State back in 2016.
