Did USFL compare well to the NFL when they got Herschel and Jim Kelly to sign back in the day or did they simply over pay to try and seem relevant? If you think the PGA is busting their asses to merge so bad why did they just sign the deal with a venture capital firm? Looked like to me it was to keep from having the merge.

The WGC events, the Sentry Tournament of Champions, and fed ex cup playoffs were the only ones I can remember. Not really the same imo.

I thought the match play was cool, but they don’t do that really to decide the true champ. Wish they did that for the finals too. Not exactly sure why they would go back to Stroke Play. Definitely made the finals less exciting to me.

According to the no laying up guys it was to get around antitrust issues with DOJ. the VC firm may sell equity to PIF now.

These days the PGA courses are the brands. The folks on the 16th hole of the Waste Management are going to cheer or boo players like they were Tiger Woods or McIlroy. These guys playing on the front page of the leaderboard are mostly unknowns. That's the state of the PGA.
Pro Golf is a divided house and to be honest most of the brand names reside with LIV.

They are having fun because they get so much guaranteed money. Some of them get hundreds of millions before teeing off. LIV is a joke. It's exhibition golf. I'd rather see guys play through four rounds where one shot really makes a difference. There's no drama with the shotgun start. The team play is okay, but the actual tournament is a joke. I can live with 54 holes if each round matters and it matters coming up to the 18th hole.
