How do the next big golfers become the next big golfers if you dilute the field to only include the best golfers right now? You don’t grow the sport for the next generation only caring about watching the current generation play one another because, eventually, they get old
Because there’s a whole bunch of tournaments - the majority, in fact - where that’s what happens.

And there’s room for limited tournaments with stacked fields. No one is advocating to demolish the PGA tour and their weekly tournaments. Calm down.

Tiger only played around 15-18 normal tour events a year, which included, at one time, 4 WGC events and the Players which were events just as you described. Then the 4 majors. He played very few events that didn’t have deep and elite fields. There were plenty of opportunities for Phil to battle him down the stretch when a bad week for Tiger was a top 10 finish. Phil just didn’t play well enough for that to happen. Nothing about the format of the Tour prevented more Tiger and Phil battles. Sorry, it’s just a dumb argument to make

Exactly. I’ve tried to watch it several times and it’s just garbage. It’s like watching a scramble at my local course with really good players. No one really gives a shite who wins. Not really. And Jon Rahm wasn’t enjoyable to watch on the PGA Tour let alone this crap.

There were more huge names than just Phil and Tiger, don’t get distracted. The point is that limited field events with huge names stacks the leaderboard more so than a typical 144 player tournament on the PGA tour. That’s a fact because it’s just simple statistics.

We wind up with many pga events with a leaderboard of names that the average fan has never heard of. I like also having some tournaments with stacked fields. Maybe you don’t, and that’s fine.

So you’re just bothered by guys you haven’t heard of playing better than guys you have. You’ve made that clear

Nah, I watch both. There’s room for both.

Only one side of this debate seems to have hurt feelings over the other.

No one had hurt feelings. Your argument just happens to be ignorant and illogical. No need to deflect

Honestly, your arguments tell me you don’t understand the LIV model either

I have. I tried to like it, but it just won't grow on me.
The shitty music always droning in the background, and players scattered all over the course instead of leaders grouped together are the two biggest issues I have personally.
If you like it, OK. I don't.
frick the PGA for causing this also, because they have driven their best players away from their own tournaments.
Looks like the GGO or John Deere Classic every weekend now.

Rahm was so “driven away” it took him $500 million before he left

I'm surprised you're showing your face after the shite show that's taking place in Scottsdale this weekend. People fighting, walking around partially nude, pissing on themselves, doing snow angels in bunkers, sliding down muddy hills. It's like a frat party on steroids.

But of course, not all tours can have the decorum of the PGA. These are the serious tournaments

Yeah, but the viewership (in US) on NBC is so much higher than LIV’s on CW

The WM is going to have attendance numbers through the roof, they will have ratings numbers through the roof as well. It absolutely eats at Jim and Pirates soul

They, liv fans, are now complaining the pga tour is too fun and young

You and Pride have cried more about LIV than any other humans I’ve met. If you want to watch Doug Ghin and Nick Taylor battle it out tomorrow, go for it. I hope you enjoy yourself, I really do.

You just seem not to be able to stand people also watching a different golf product, that’s what’s so weird about you PGA fanboys. You do you.

But if you’re trying to convince me I can’t enjoy watching DJ battle it out down the stretch in a tournament because it’s only 54 holes (as was the PGA last week and maybe this week), or because it has 54 guys playing, rather than 73, then you’re barking up the wrong tree.

You can like LIV. Nobody is stopping you. Don’t be mad someone called you out for your nonsensical posts

Look, I really enjoy watching college tennis. I 100% understand it isn’t popular and the majority of people don’t. It’s fine. Doesn’t mean I can’t like it.

LIv fans need to figure that out

I have? You sure about that?

So we’ll ignore that Scheffler, Thomas, Speith, Horschel, Burns, and Young are all sitting top 10 right now with Lowry and Matsuyama 1 shot outside the top 10 through 2.5 rounds. Ok

And this is a tournament sandwiched between two elevated events FFS

And for some reason you can’t stand the PGA Tour. Weird.

I’m not trying to convince you of anything. You seem to act like the Tour was terrible for decades because it wasn’t LIV. It’s been an amazing social experiment to watch. Not a single fan complained about the Tour prior to the split. except maybe too many commercials during televised events.

This whole split was about money for the players, not the competition. That should affect you as a fan zero. So stop pretending there was something missing from the product we all watched that LIV has fixed. That’s just an intellectually dishonest argument

What?

I like the PGA tour, I watch a lot of it. I watch college football and the NFL, though it’s the same sport. I have the mental capacity to enjoy them both for what they are. My apologies to you.

Sure, but it greatly upsets you for some weird reason. You post exclusively about LIV on the golf board.

So you do get it…yet you can’t drop your obsession with LIV

So it only triggers you when people make negative comments about LIV. Why is that?
