wat
Lived in NE St. Petersburg, FL. It was awesome. Need to get back, but this time with a boat. I like the Dunedin area, as well. I pretty much stayed in Pinellas County on the other side of the bay and rarely went to Tampa.
The thing about Tampa Bay and Miami is that such a large percentage of the population has roots elsewhere and thus they are not loyal to the local teams.

Why do Miami and Tampa Bay get passes?
I've been to Jacksonville and Tampa before and both stadiums had pretty good crowds.
went to the Saints-Jags in 2003 and the Saints-Bucs in 2006.
I mean I get it that in general they don't have big crowds but I think most people could figure out why.

Jacksonville deserves to be bashed... we've come a long way in 18 or so years, but it's pooval county. I didn't help the image at all, 3-4 seasons ago I was openly bashing the jags to some guy, who apparently turned out to be Jim irsay, whoops. Not many people smoke outside the club suites, and no way the guy who approaches me, at a jag game, for a lighter is a damn billionaire.

The beach? Or the city? The city of Jacksonville fricking blows and everyone here knows it. Murder capital of Florida. Seriously. Worse than Miami.
But to stay on topic, yes, Jax actually has a pretty decent fan base from what I can tell in 2 years living here.

The stadium is too big for the market.
It has to be that big to host the WLOCP. They still have to bring in additional bleacher seating to get it up to 85K for the game.

You may be right that Jax is no worse (and may actually be better) than Tampa Bay and Miami for fan support.
The Jags get bashed b/c they have had trouble filling the stadium, they are a relatively new franchise (20 years old) that has never had consistent success on the field, and people generally have a poor conception of the city of Jacksonville. All of that stuff combines to give a perception of the franchise as a "never has been".
Miami has two Super Bowl championships including the only perfect season in NFL history. Tampa Bay has a relatively recent Super Bowl championship. In its entire existence the Jags have two division titles and have never even made the SB. So even when they suck people have some positive associations with the franchise.
