Why do LA TV markets not show the Bengals every time they can?

The love for Burrow/Chase is strong and they have a big game with the Ravens today at noon? Yet, we get Bills/Pats.

There is no way that game will draw better ratings. What am I missing?

Literally saw someone wearing a bengals chase jersey in a daiquiri shop in Shreveport yesterday. Bengals would get huge ratings down here

It’s more an NFL decision and they like to protect the local team. A lot of Louisiana people live in Houston and they don’t show the Saints (excluding prime time) most weekends.

I’m not for sure what the new rules are since they changed them some in the past few years.

But a reason may be that the Bills/Pats game is declared the “national game of the week” and therefore stations are required to run it unless their normal local market team is playing in the same slot.

I know WAFB early in the season ran a couple Bengals games when the Saints weren’t in the same slot and said they’d try to do as many as they can; but there have been some times still when Saints and Bengals have been at different times and they still didn’t run the Bengals game.

Bengals

Being a small market franchise, they’re largely a regional fan base. Steelers, Cowboys and Packers are the big 3 when it comes to national brands and fan bases.

Because other teams bring it better ratings

They probably sell ad spots based on expected viewers/markets showing the game. Giving free reign to individual markets would screw up that up. Probably just one of the hurdles.

I'm watching it on Directv channel 705 here in Cenla. Should be Sunday ticket but for some reason it's free.

Because the NFL and tv leadership think that we’d rather watch a mix of the Patriots, Steelers, Ravens, Vikings, Packers, Chiefs on repeat.

Doesn’t apply today specifically...but the Bengals are a DISTANT 2nd to the Browns in their own state. The Bengals fan base is small and FULL of apathetic fans.

They have a lot of fans in Louisiana though. I actively search for their games every week. Went to Walmart earlier and saw 3 Burrow bengals jerseys

Yeah. Today in Birmingham we have Bills/Pats on CBS, Carolina/TB on Fox for the early games. Steelers/Chiefs on the second slot on CBS. Tonight is obviously Cowboys/Redskins on NBC but there are plenty of other games I would rather watch right now.

I haven't turned on the tv today because I had zero interest in the games that were on here. Sucks to suck Goodell.
