Why didn’t Verlander try to lay one down with a man at third and no outs??

Make them make a play? This isn't college. They will make the play. They are pros.

He had a better chance of laying down a perfect bunt than getting a hit

Didn't want to risk the ball connecting with his hand

Even if he gets the bunt down, Odds are you end up with the runner out and Verlander on first. With no outs, you let Springer drive him in.

He should have. McCann at third didn’t help but he had a better chance at getting on that way than a hit imo. He’s not gonna be running anything out though so I guess you try for a hit.

I doubt Verlander has attempted 5 bunts his whole life, including the MLB, minor leagues, high school, and grade school. It’s not that easy to bunt major league pitching without practice. He’s probably swung a bat thousands of times on the other hand.

Reddick really screwed it all up with the strikeout. He's been trash this WS.

I'm guessing a lot of factors played into the decision.

- Verlander not comfortable bunting (he's been in the AL for 12 years)
- McCann is probably one of the slowest players in the MLB
- Leave two runners in scoring position for Springer who has been white hot

My question was why not pinch hit for verlander earlier in the game with runners on 2nd and 3rd? I think there was 1 out.

2nd slowest according to stat cast

I can't believe the announcers even suggested bunting there
