Pretty sure this is incorrect.

I wonder if UCLA fans bitch about UC Berkeley being called California in athletics?

Actually the better analogy would be I wonder if USC fans bitch about UCLA fans not bitching about UC Berkeley using California for athletics..

This thread is pathetic, especially the timing with a top 25 national televised matchup between Texas (UT Austin) and Louisiana (UL Lafayette).

Pretty much sums up what holds back this state, especially the hypocrisy coming from a school that doesn’t go by it’s official name either (LSU A&M)

What holds this state back is 57 universities in the state.

All this state needs:

Louisiana State University
Louisiana Tech University
University of Louisiana - Lafayette
University of New Orleans

That is it.

Of course Tulane but they are private so I don’t care.

Yeah... UL has twice the pop and 6x endowment, but ok.

Actually the University of Louisville Total enrollment is 22,640… but I don’t know what that has to do with anything.

Even moreso since they are a superior university to ULL.

Erm, ULM has less than half the students, a smaller endowment, and a smaller athletic program.

I have nothing against ULM but some of you have no idea what you’re talking about.

UC Berkeley is the flagship university of the University of California system.

UT Austin is the flagship university of the University of Texas System.

ULL is not the flagship university of the University of Louisiana system.

I really don’t get Tim Brando
He is just weird
Not really good at what he does. Even though he claims to love Louisiana he does a bad job at making the state look great.
Has an obsession with Alabama and Texas.
More than that the little bitch blocked me from Twitter when I asked why he went to ULM. I guess he was turned down by LSU.
Probably was and took it personally

That’s only because there are Flagship criteria to meet in Texas to be recognized as a “Flagship” university.

In this backwards arse state, LSU was appointed as “The” flagship. There isn’t a matrix or criteria to meet. It’s just designated as such.

Also, according to the Louisiana Legislature regarding higher education, there is 1 Flagship, 3 Statewide Universities and the rest of regional colleges.

The three statewide universities are:
UNO
LaTech
UL

The rest are regional colleges. So tell me why there isn’t a public university that goes by University of Louisiana?

Looks like enough to be able to use the UL name to me.

1. LSU
2A. UL
2B. LA Tech
3. UNO.

End of discussion. All of the others do not matter in this conversation.

Michigan and Michigan State
Oklahoma and Oklahoma State
Oregon and Oregon State
Washington and Washington State
Mississippi and Mississippi State
Louisiana and Louisiana State

One of these pairs is not like the others.

Why stop there?
How about Tennessee and Tennessee State?
Missouri and Missouri State?
Utah and Utah State?
Idaho and Idaho State?
Texas and Texas State?

Are those pairs like the others?

Sorry gophers that you seem immune to the facts, but facts are that UL has $144 million in R & D expenditures while all the ULS schools combined total $52 million.

UL Research Money

All other ULS Schools

Yep. But that would require logic devoid of petty and childish antics….mostly from #2B, the ltur mutts….so here we are.

But wait....there's more!!!

Ohio and Ohio State?
Georgia and Georgia State?
Alabama and Alabama State?
Arkansas and Arkansas State?
Indiana and Indiana State?
Illinois and Illinois State?

But in Louisiana, "we do things differently around here."

The result: 50th in education

Using "we are the flagship" mantra is like polishing a turd around here. There's really no substance to it. Just "we are bigger, so..." mindset.
