Why can’t ULM call themselves “Louisiana” too?

Watching ULM play Kentucky on SEC, wouldn’t they have just as much claim to the name ‘Louisiana’ if they chose to use it? And wouldn’t hilarity ensue if they did?

Neither one of them is supposed to. The Cajuns pulled some dumb “athletic team branding” move and ULM just bent over and let them.

At the time of the name change all parties agreed not to claim the name Louisiana. ULL broke their word before the ink was dry but their lack of integrity doesn't release ULM from their own promise. And the really shameful thing for ULL is that this douchebaggery doesn't originate with fans, it's straight from the University itself.

They agreed not to officially name the university as so.
Just like your official name is not LSU.

You’d be surprised the number of schools who add city designations to their official name but only say the state when branding themselves.
