I get the whole team of the 90s blah blah bs. But that was so damn long ago. Why did these people bandwagon to begin with? Watching Cowboys Panthers and as I expected there's way more Cowboys gear in the stands.

Same shite with the Steelers but at least that one is more understandable.

Why are there so many Yankees fans? Lakers fans? Some franchises just carry large amounts of fans and bandwagoners

If you understand the Steelers, then you should understand the Cowboys. Both date back to their rivalry in the 70’s. A good portion of the Cowboys fandom was born out of people’s hatred of the Steelers, and vice-versa.

A lot of bandwagoners passed it on to their chirrens

Plus they’re exposed so much nationwide

Then you have tons of Texans who move out of state.

Wouldn’t that make them not bandwagoners?

I think the Cowboys are sort of like the Yankees in that they have appeal beyond their immediate regional television audience. Not sure why that happened, if it was good marketing, the cheer leaders, or what, but they've been a national brand for fifty years.

They were the only team in Texas for forever and Texas has a huge population, and then you get the surrounding states with no teams so geographically a huge population that are naturally fans. Then you get their stretch of success plus being force fed them on national TV and it makes sense.

I’m in a state that has an abundance of Chiefs and Cowgirl fans. Gladly I’m not a fan of either. Life long Steelers fan here!

The better question is why there are so many Cowboy fans that also have the Lakers and Yankees/Dodgers as their favorite teams.

The Steelers nationwide fanbase has more to do with people moving out of Western PA to other parts of the country when the steel mills closed down.

The Cowboys do not have a logical explanation like this.

Uh. Houston Oilers. AFL original franchise.
Hell, the Chiefs did two years as the Dallas Texans before they moved to KC.

If you follow a shitty team that makes you a bandwagoner? Chiefs and Bills have a lot more bandwagon fans

bandwagon

Do you not understand the meaning of this word? If you do, then you should know why.

For whatever reason, my stepdad and stepbrothers were big Cowboys fans (before they did the whole "screw the NFL" thing) simply because they didn't like the Saints. I grew up an Oilers/Titans fan, but couldn't honestly tell you why other than I just liked the Oilers.

Likewise, I'm sure there are Dallas fans that are fans for no real reason. But there are probably many that just feel the need to be associated with a winner.

Back in the day with 4 channels you got 4 games a week.......a d Dallas was always 1 of them. Washington was popular on the east coast.

More cowboy fans cross the border than any other team every year. It comes with labeling yourself “America’s team.”

Then explain Cleveland. The Steelers have national appeal because of winning Super Bowls. Just like Dallas.

The Cowboys were among (if not) the first team to broadcast in Spanish and in Mexico, so they have a vast fanbase among Hispanics.

Otherwise, not only the 90s but the Landry era as well.

Cleveland is 2 hours from Pittsburgh. They have the exact same explanation for why the Browns have such a huge fanbase. That whole region got crushed by the decline of the steel mills.
