Hell, an OL or DL will get flagged if their hands get blocked/pushed into their opponent's helmet sometimes

I don't doubt it, but it doesn't happen because it gives no advantage to the defender. Its a moot point.

They'll call a facemask on a ball carrier these days if they stiff arm and grab onto the defender's helmet.
Preach, OP. This has bugged me for way too long.

They are also allowed to lower their heads.

No, they won't.
DeAndre Hopkins gets TD called back for facemask

I know by offensive players you meant ball carrier, and of course, that is the rub. Ball carriers are allowed to stiff arm, and while I guess its a double standard, I hope they never take it out of the game.
That said, as Goedert scored last night. I thought he might be the first player to get an unnecessary roughness penalty while running with the football since Larry Csonka.

Josh Allen got punched in the head repeatedly with no flag.

Pretty sure I remember him taking a right cross while scoring a TD in another game.
It is one thing to try a slap/strip, but letting guys throw closed fist punches toward an opponent has always struck me as overly permissive.

That DB should ask for Witness Protection after that.

I’m on your side on this. It’s a double standard.

Countless times I have seen this happen only for the defensive player to receive the penalty.

Ever since targeting has been a thing I've been on a crusade to make offensive players responsible for the targeting they cause. A HUGE amount of targeting is caused by the offensive player lowering their helmet to the level where the defensive player's helmet is at, creating the H2H/forcible contact to the head (or whatever term they turn it into) that gets the defensive player in trouble.
Sometimes we're talking well below the shoulders into the abdomen area.

Cause the fans love scoring. Could be 3rd and 25 where a defensive holding of five yards is automatic first down. Pass interference automatic first down. Hold on offense though, you get to repeat the down. Everything favors the offensive side of the ball. There should be more loss of down penalties.

Why can a RB lead with his helmet, using it as a battering ram but a DB can't?

That was about to be an absolutely beautiful form tackle before the GB returner lowered his helmet to initiate that contact.
