Why not both?

The man can coach, Shaw has some talent on hand, and they are dropping down in classification.

No insight on the job at Ponchy, but I don’t get the hate for Ponchy in this thread. I have always enjoyed going there, especially as a kid. My great grandmother (originally from Madisonville) cooked some fantastic fried chicken and stuffed bell peppers.

He is a very good coach, but a TERRIBLE fit in that community. Winning cures all, so I guess we will see. With Cyril Crutchfield being at Bogalusa, he job will be more difficult as he will have fewer ball players to work with.

With the year Crutchfield had, with Pine being a little better than they used to be, Hannan coming to that district, Franklinton had to go big.

About Shaw, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Taylor, and now Jefferson RISE and Rosenwald and Young Audiences will have been opened since the last time Shaw was good. Luckily they’ll get all the football players, but that competition cut into the ranks of the tuition paying other students that Shaw used to get

Hank is going back to Shaw. I don't really think that this turns out the way Shaw thinks it will. The landscape of West Bank football has changed. Hank is a very good coach .

Those kids are going to schools on the East Bank because Shaw is no longer a viable school. It has nothing to do with Tierneys exit at this point and everything to do with Shaw not being somewhere that certain demographics can send their children to at this point not to mention their wives would have a meltdown if their kid was going to Shaw over Jesuit or Brother Martin. On top of that most of the middle to upper middle class white families that used to live on the West Bank have either moved to the East Bank, Northshore, or out of state. Nobody is crossing that bridge to bring their kid through the gates of the Siesta Motel to a school that is about 30 years outdated with 300 students and the worst education offered among Catholic Schools in the Metro Area. 70yr old Hank Tierney isn't changing any of that.

Lol wut? Shaw never had upper class kids. They have never tried to compete for those kids either. The Westbank is seeing a lot of people actually move into it as home prices are surging elsewhere. This is literally the perfect time to try and recoup the losses of the last 10 years.

Shaw's got the campus, the stadium, etc. The demographic that Shaw needs is still on the WB right now and they've always split talent with other schools. If they can get over 500 kids consistently in the next few years they will be a quarter finals regular and probably be back in the dome within this decade, and I'm assuming 4A comes back together in 2024.

none, literally zero of them people are from Ponchatoula.

I didn't say they were from NOLA. I said there are plenty of similarities.

Ponchatoula is West Bogalusa without a paper mill.

spot on... and this is the biggy.... a lot of alums broke ties with shaw with the way the situation went down in 2002. This heals a lot of wounds.

I just assumed, like Rummel, the issue was the public / magnet schools getting better and pulling away kids that used to go to Catholic schools because public was so bad.

Thats definitely a part of it. Two of the best public high schools in the state are on the west bank, thomas jefferson and pat taylor.

Hannan is the new Shaw. Most of the Westbankers who have moved are moving to the Western side of St.Tammany off of 1077/ 1085 area just north of Hwy 22. Hannan is in that area. In about 5 years you will see Hannan become a factor in football as enrollment starts to creep near the 750 - 800 student mark.

Meh if you’re moving to the Northshore you’re not doing so to keep paying Catholic school tuition…

I was in high school when Hank got run off, what exactly transpired.

Also talks are really heating up around the lunch table at Paul's Cafe, seems like the db coach may not want the job. Might go to the wr coach/former baseball asst coach. I heard Brian Kelly personally complimented his development of the WR Walker when Kelly was still recruiting him for Notre Dame. Only thing holding him back is his emotions, very passionate on the field.

I also heard that the old head coach of Northshore might be interested, he's got ties to the area, having graduated from SELU and coaching in Mandeville for a few years.

I've heard the same thing about the former Northshore head coach, Josh Buelle. Seems like he is the current front runner for the position at Ponchatoula.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or just throwing out different friends as potential replacements for Hank.
