If it plays out this way...
Notre Dame can have wins over 4 BCS con Champs which is big, and 3 of them away from South Bend

Miami (2nd in division)
USC (leads division now)
OU (potential Co Champ but needs help)
Michigan (leads division)

That is pretty strong résumé and computer number

The problem is that the 1 loss ND resume would include either losing to Oklahoma (their only solid Top10 opponent) or USC at the end of the season.

Either loss would kill their chances as would a loss to a mediocre team like Pitt etc.

Without beating Oklahoma, their wins would still be decently strong but a higher number of bottom of the Top25 / Other's Receiving Votes type teams isn't going to overcome LSU beating #1 Alabama and #1/#2 Florida. Not even close.

In the scenario where Oklahoma gives ND their loss, Oklahoma would be ahead of ND too.

ND's schedule is considered the 6th hardest in the nation. LSU is 15th. NDs will only become more difficult with 2 top 10 teams. You can just consider how many top 10 or even top 20 teams Notre Dame plays. Their schedule doesn't have sun belt teams or D2 teams. Their schedule has BIG, PAC 12, and BIG 12 championship team contenders.

and LSU's potentially has two #1's and MSU at #11. so yeah the schedule will be close enough that it will be a wash. especially when LSU is ahead in both polls. Probably by multiple spots.

/under the suggested scenario

their schedule also doesn't have a #1 Alabama, (any SEC teams for that matter), or a mystery opponent at the end of the season

LSU would probably play 2 #1 teams under this scenario.

Florida 2x

Notre Dame's schedule is a joke. If theres one thing we've learned in these past few years it's that to truly elite teams like Alabama or LSU last year, playing these mediocre BCS conference teams is the same as playing D2 schools. Stanford is by far the best team the Irish have played and they squeaked by in overtime. The same Stanford team that lost to Washington.

lol

dude. again ND is 5th in the BCS right now, LSU at 6

LSU already lost, therefore they will be going 5-0 against the remaining teams(in this scenario).

ND has NOT lost yet, so taking for instance, OU game. If ND loses this weekend, they will drop BEHIND LSU.

LSU will THEN be playing Bama next week while ND plays Pitt. LSU will at WORST be 5th going into that game with ND anywhere from 5th to 10th.

to argue that ND would be in over LSU is to assume that ND will JUMP LSU as the season progresses on....despite LSU having MSU and the east champ in a SECCG

that is NOT happening

The computers reward teams that play more BCS teams that end up around 6-6 and all FCS teams and that can look good as a talking point but there's no substitution for top end strength.

However, when assessing potential BCS CG participants, it seems that most voters weigh the absolute top end opponents on a schedule a but higher. The logic, of course, being that a national championship team really shouldn't struggle that much with any team that's not even on the TOP25 radar.

Notre Dame's schedule is very solid and they deserve credit but the reason some people don't consider it so crazy is that even Alabama -- who every seems to agree has an "easy" -- would like face just as many legitimate Top25 teams.

LSU or Florida, of course, would have even more top opponents than Alabama.

Notre Dame's schedule is much tougher than Alabama's because of Wake Forest or Purdue or Pitt or Navy being better than Tennessee, Ole Miss, Missouri and Western Kentucky or an FCS cupcake. ND will benefit in the computers for that but the real meat of the schedules isn't so different:

Notre Dame plays these TOP 10 teams:

Oklahoma
USC

and these Top25 Teams:

Michigan
Stanford

Alabama plays these TOP 10 teams:

LSU
SEC East Champion

and these TOP 25 teams:

Michigan
Miss ST
Texas A&M

This is only a discussion if the Notre Dame is undefeated and LSU only has one lost. Otherwise LSU hundred percent Of the time

Now I think a more interesting discussion would be if LSU or Bama beat an undefeated Florida in a close game in the SEC championship.

MSU probably won't be ranked when LSU plays them. Unlikely UF gets to the championship game without a loss.

i find that hard to believe. WVU just lost two games in a row by a combined 600 and are still ranked. MSU has bama and A&M then LSU. They'll likely go 1-1 but even if they go 0-2 i doubt they fall out of the rankings.

Easily LSU. Especially if the team they beat in the SECCG is UF (which it probably would be).

This is a really dumb question.

LSU would be 12-1 and would have heated #1 Bama and likely #1 Florida.

If records are the same the SEC team will get the nod aver anybody else. Until somebody beats an SEC team in the NC game
