ND is currently ranked #12 in the AP and Coaches Polls. They are the highest ranked two-loss team and are ranked ahead of multiple one-loss teams.

What makes you think they will get through the remainder of their incredibly touch schedule?

The issue with ND is that if they do get in, the other 11 teams should have no issue beating them. If they don't belong, then they should lose in the first round.

Notre Dame is a good team. I imagine they would be around -3 against Vandy/Tennessee.

Syracuse has been really bad after Angeli got hurt. They have kind of low key had a pretty damn tough schedule this year, too - Tennessee, @ Clemson, Pitt, @ Georgia Tech, @ Miami, @ Notre Dame - and their lack of depth is killing them at this point. Boston College and Stanford stink on ice.

If it's going to happen, I tend to think Pitt would be the best candidate to do it. They are knocking around the edge of the top 25, have some competencies that can match up well against good teams (can throw the ball well and are fairly capable stopping the run). Also, Narduzzi absolutely hates Notre Dame from his MSU days.

Navy is salty this year, but they haven't had the players to play with ND since Freeman came on board, and it's at home.

it's sarcasm coming from a Notre Dame fan. Last year all you heard was that they lost to Northern Illinois but no team besides Ohio State could beat them in the playoffs.

No one is getting screwed. If you belong in, don't leave it to the committee, win your games. Hard to feel bad for teams 12-15 not getting in when they had multiple opportunities to do so

They're going to have two wins against ranked teams (navy/USC)

Their schedule is trash and who they've beaten is even worse.

I do hope that it's UVA that gets screwed because they're trash

Nothing wrong with ND getting in

It’ll make for a better CFP, IMO.

They are also ranked extremely highly on all the advanced metrics

Sagarin has them 4th ahead of any team from the SEC
FPI has them 5th
SP+ has them 6th

So they belong in the field as much as any team who is going to end up with 2/3 losses based on those metrics

Notre Dame has seemed to figure it out or make adjustments to their defense. They don't look like the same defense as they did against Miami or A&M.

That said, if Miami drops another game and A&M losses a couple ... they should be bounced.

Lost to #3 and #9 by a combined 4 points and a controversial non-call. If it was Bama, we'd get the "best losses test" from ol' Paul...but it's Notre Dame, which makes the SEC get all itchy in their britches.

Notre Dame is a,Playoff ability worthy team (two Top 10 teams barely beat them), simple as that...but they need Miami and TAMU to keep winning.

I love the thought of that, but this year's Orange are not good. Rickie Collins looks lost in space and the defense is spotty at best. I'll tell you after the UNC game if we stand a shot at pulling a Notre Dame upset.
