Well, that was the general consensus around NE Louisiana. I’m not saying you’re wrong, but what isn’t true about his statement?

I don't really think the ULM-ULL is really a rivalry. Like you said, if it is, it is forced.
The Sunbelt and media tried to force it because we’re both on Louisiana and play against each other during “Rivalry Week”. However, in regards to football, Cajuns fans have viewed Arky State as our real rival for a long time now, especially once Bustle had us at least competitive in the West Division, then during the Hud years, that game was circled on every Cajuns football fan’s calendar.
Really wish the SBC would change up the schedule and have us play Arky State that week.

NLU era alumni is why would they just let ULL take over the name Louisiana without so much as a fight.
I still care. Pisses me off every time I see or hear them call themselves UL.
And seriously makes me furious with the leaders of ULM. Seeing what followed Vines just makes me sick at my stomach. When I was there, Tech and NLU were pretty much equal.

Forced rivalries are so annoying. ULM (NLU) vs La Tech was an amazing true rivalry and I miss that, not even being from north La. I'd head there from Lafayette or Alexandria to go watch those games and it was a blast. Saints/Falcons another natural rivalry that is great to watch. ULM/La Tech can definitely get that going again, ULL/La Tech also has a natural rivalry feel to it.

These are the kinds of statements that make the rest of us think Tech is smug and snooty!

Southland Conference
People laugh but don’t be surprised if they don’t end up here. If they don’t find a suitable conference they go independent in football. That leaves them joining the southland for the other sports. I think it would be good for them to do this in football but eventually it would hurt their other sports. Tech has a good baseball program but a team playing A&M Corpus Christi, A&M commerce, and incarnate word isn’t going to host a regional. They would dominate early on but eventually the program would suffer.

La Tech just needs to hope they hit a homerun in 2025 when the next alignment happens. Or maybe I heard that wrong and it's not going to happen.

As a UL alum and fan it’s a shame we can’t have a conference with UL, LA Tech, Southern Miss, ULM, Arkansas State. In order for G5 conferences to prosper we need sustained geographical rivals that really drive excitement for fans.
Looks like the Sun Belt will shift Troy to the west division, but I would much rather have LA Tech. Yes, there is very bad blood and a lot of hate, but as a fan that is exactly what we need. UL has solid rivalries now with App State, CCU and the history with Arkansas St. unfortunately 2 of those 3 schools reside in the east. Southern Miss is a perfect addition and then adding LA Tech would really be exciting for fans.
Unfortunately egos and pride won’t allow this to happen. Tech burned too many bridges over the years and would have no trust from Sun Belt Presidents, but from purely a fan perspective they would be the perfect addition.
I say throw Tech a bone and put the ball in their court. The Sun Belt improves significantly without Tech and the power will reside in the East for sure, but man it would be really exciting if the Sun Belt West Division was:
UL
LA Tech
Southern Miss
Arkansas State
ULM
South Alabama
Texas State

Unlike a lot of Cajuns fans, I could be ok with that, but none of that constant bullshite their coaches and AD kept stirring up while they were in the Belt previously for Olympic sports. This Sunbelt leadership and the Presidents should make sure that message is sent loud and clear to LA Tech’s administration.

Think La Tech’s historical treatment of their mascots has beautifully positioned the program to receive an invite from the U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kansas conference.

Ehh…don’t want to pin myself down for identification.
Let’s just say that when I first got to UL, distance program was an embarrassment. By the time I graduated, it was legit in the Sunbelt.
Not claiming credit for that turn, but just what happened.

You mean the negligence of an employee for the vet that was caring for him? Not exactly the school's fault there.
