Owners are going to be pro-china so silver is completely safe.

Basically the only shot is if LeBron isn't a fraud and actually speaks up. He won't though because the nike dollars are worth more than actually being more than an athlete.

It’s a cool thing to tell people online that you have “I don’t care” attitude?

But what does the Venn diagram look like of people who know what's going on in Hong Kong and NBA fans? I imagine the overlap is very small.

True. NBA fans have by far the lowest collective IQ of any of the big league's bases

So, an American citizen supporting democratic protesters against a totalitarian regime is considered a troublemaker?

It has absolutely been an issue, not just with the NBA but across the US corporate landscape. Most people just weren't paying attention.

Hell, watch the latest episode of South Park from last week.

He has an opinion. And nba is jumping on this throat for it. This is the same nba who pulled out of Charlotte for trans bathroom issue. Yeah, they never get political.

The reason the back China is of course money. That’s why it’s political.

That's not really what I'm saying, it's just an interest thing. There are stupid people interested in all sorts of things. And there are smart people interested in all sorts of things.

I just don't think that people interested in global politics are largely interested in the NBA and vice versa.

The vast majority of companies we deal with have heavy ties to China. If you're reading this board on an Iphone, you know what I mean.

I'm not blind to China's record on human rights with Hong Kong, but it's hard to untangle daily life from China nowadays. Whether you make peace with it or don't...that's your choice, but I do think it's worthwhile to be aware of how deep it goes.

The NBA has shown the way to their heart is $$$$$$$$.

You would have to make it so that appeasing China is a much bigger loss than standing up to them.

If they knew they’d lose a lot of money by appeasing China, they’d magically discover their moral backbone.

They may be making more money but this claim is debatable.

Personally, I think it was better before the AAU culture took hold.

But they score more points now so there’s that.

I haven’t watched a regular season NBA game on tv in like five years because the Mavs have been so bad. I’ve been to maybe 3-4 games total in that span.

I bought a 10-game package this year.

I called the ticket office this morning and asked if it would be possible to get a refund. I was transferred to some VP of sales and after explaining the reason for the refund (this entire China debacle) I was told I would receive a full refund and also could keep tickets to five of the games.

I’ll probably go to all five games, but I think some front offices understand how bad the league looks during this whole fiasco.

If people want to boycott then great. We live in a country where you can do so. If not, I don’t blame people for not really caring. This doesn’t really affect anyone here directly, so I get why some people will just somewhat ignore the situation.
