Yep, it's never going to be what it was in the 50's and 60's and before on a national scale but regionally it does well and was trending upward, it's just different from the other big two sports in that regard and some folks who are used to those templates don't understand this.
Baseball will be fine.

Here is what the MLBPA has submitted for the newest agreement
Among the key components proposed by the MLBPA:
Significant increases to 40-man minimums, including a Major League minimum salary of $1.5m beginning in 2027
Expanded Pre-Arb Performance Bonus Program distributing more dollars to more players
Expansion of salary arbitration eligibility
Enhanced compensation and contract guarantees for players in salary arbitration
Expansion of rules aimed at combating service time manipulation
Elimination of the qualifying offer as well as the penalties for Clubs that sign free agents
Increased benefits for lower revenue Clubs who lose players to free agency
Qualified free agency for players with five or more years of service who have reached age 30
“Luxury Tax” threshold increases and removal of non-monetary penalties
A new “Competitive Integrity Tax” applying to Clubs that fail to meet minimum payroll benchmarks
Expanded draft lottery to further disincentivize tanking
Additional MLBPA Proposals that are designed to improve competition while also supporting lower revenue Clubs include:
Increased revenue sharing that initially guarantees every small market Club a minimum of $240m in revenue every season, subject to requirements that funds be used to compete on the field. Beyond that guarantee:
Clubs will be able to keep more of the stadium-related revenues they generate
Tens of millions in extra revenue sharing will go to low-revenue Clubs that qualify for the playoffs or have a winning record
Significantly increased sharing of local media revenues from high to low revenue teams
Curbing revenue sharing dependence by barring excessive transfers
Penalties for Clubs that neglect to spend revenue sharing payments on team payroll
Draft picks and other benefits for low revenue Clubs active in free agency and other signings

People who think MLB is dying because they don’t watch it are just low IQ idiots who can’t use google. MLB attendance dwarfs all other sports. It’s not even close. MLB also has teams in more advantageous locations, It is a well run sport. And once the owners crush the union it will get better.

I saw something like 6 teams would be over the cap, but 12 teams would need to spend more to get above the minimum. Cleveland would need to spend double their current payroll hahaha

Seeing the way some owners operate, if they want a cap they need a floor for salaries of the major league roster.

This is one time where many fans can agree that something needs to be done to fix the economics of baseball. There needs to be a more level field for competitive balance. Some teams aren't even trying to compete and barely have a payroll while a few others throw so much money at FAs teams can't compete.

My curiosity about this whole thing is that the MLB owners would need to be in agreement (at least a majority of them) for these proposals to be made. The recent MLB proposal had a $245M cap and a $171M floor. Using Fangraphs, there are 6 teams above that cap and 15 clubs under the floor currently. Those 15 in particular would have to agree to pony up before the official offer could be made. The Marlins are almost $100M short. I could see the owners on both sides of that spectrum having some contentious debate before the players get involved at all.
The TV money being shared likely will buoy a lot of that talk, but if you are the Dodgers or other big market franchise, why would you support that?

This will be a lockout, not a strike. I can see both sides of this issue. I get that the players think they deserve the owners' money for providing a service. But the owners are paying fair market wages for the service. It is going to be really ugly over the winter, I feel. The Winter Meetings will be an interesting get-together.

It’s going to be ugly because that’s how unions operate. They work off feelings not reality and the media always takes their side but rich owners are bad and rich players just want to play and feed their families.
The reasons so many owners don’t care about winning is because they know how stacked the system is regarding free agents. So even if they spent another 100 million they would still lose so why continue to throw bad money after bad money.
Look at Pittsburgh - they have had some incredible players come thru their farm system. Then they get 2-3 years out of them then they leave for NYC or LA. Pittsburgh would love to have signed Soto or Tucker but they had no chance.
The owners have learned fro the Trevor Bauer situation that they do have the power to black ball players and have them scurry off to Japan. They will definitely lock out the players and wait them out. The players will have to turn to new leadership at some point to get a deal done.

A bit disingenuous the way you imply it.
Total attendance, of course, they play a huge amount more games with the same amount of teams.
Game by game, they don't touch the NFL or major college football. Not even in the same atmosphere. In fact, per game, MLBs closest "peer" is MLS. Google can be both friend and enemy.
Another example of how stats are just stats. How they are framed is where the truth and lies enter the fray.

Half of the league averages 30k and 25/30 are over 20k a game. MLB is doing fine.
