There's so big time drama going on with Legend Bey, Tennessee and Ohio St.

His mom won't let him sign with Ohio St.

He had an Ohio St. table at his signing day, then signed with UT to make his mom happy. Then accuses his brother of hacking his twitter and posting Tennessee commitment and says he is recinding his commitment and will sign with Ohio St when he turns 18 in a few weeks.

Another one is the kid that had his intent letter stolen by his mom so he couldn't sign. That was a while ago.

There was a time where Alabama signing day was more exciting than just about any game Alabama would play.

Saban HAD to have been setting up some of those situations.

Some of the late flips, especially from Auburn, were out of control fun

Reuben Foster comes to mind, but there were so many.

Massive pulls out of Louisiana were great too. The Landon Collins recruitment was inanasity down to the actual announcement.

I really just miss how insane signing day was under Saban. Idk if it’ll ever be recreated.

2012 I think? Josh Harvey Clemons picks UGA over UF and his legal guardian got mad and disappeared with his LOI (JHC wasn't 18 yet).

Joe McKnight announcing he was going to USC. Most epic meltdown this site has ever seen.

Of course I wanted him at LSU, but man that was entertaining.

Plus the rumors that Coach O helped steer McKnight to USC just intensified the meltdown that much more

Will always remember my excitement when Patrick Johnson (now Patrick Peterson) signed with LSU. My dad still laughs at how excited I got…and well, I was definitely right.

The early Bayou Bashes at the Sheraton atrium. Those were a lot of fun.

I wonder if the Eddie Bonine mentioned in that story is the same Eddie Bonine with LHSAA.

That was a crazy article and cool story with an uplifting ending. I had never heard of that guy before.

For the purposes of the thread, I'll just go with the Gunner Kiel-LSU saga since many other notorious cases have already been posted. Kiel was the #2 QB prospect in the country and seemed to appear on the LSU radar unexpectedly and very late in the game. LSU fans, parched for a REAL QB, were stoked. But then the first days of classes came and went and Kiel was a no show. Finally, Les Miles had to announce that Kiel would not, in fact, be joining the year's recruiting class. Later came the instant classic Miles public "no chest" jab at Kiel.

Remember when recruits had to fax in their LOI?

Some time around 2009, TideTV placed a cam angled perfectly towards the office fax machine. It was the quickest way to know when a signed letter was official. And signing day drama being what it was, nerds like us tuned in to watch and celebrate.

The volunteer chosen by Alabama’s official athletic site was none other than Alabama Cam Girl. You can imagine how fun that was on a college football message board. Slive shut it down the following day and it become Alabama lore.

The next year some outfit recreated it and mini dress there was the fax model. I’m not sure how many views the original got, but the 2nd one had hundreds of thousands. That was the golden age of Alabama recruiting.

Signing day is a scheduling disaster, and reflects the downfall of current college football that revolves around the transfer portal and unlimited funds. The only solution is to go back to submiiting LOI via fax machines on signing day with a fax cam girl in a mini-skirt.

Hell, give each school NIL money for a hot chick in a mini-skirt and you appease most of the fans for a few days.
