Bears fans are some of the least intelligent fans in all of football. Wrigley is more of a social setting than a baseball Mecca.

If you're that big of a fan of his, you should at least get his name right.

While both of those things may be true, Chicago is far from a bandwagon town compared to other places and especially when compared to a team from south/central Florida.

Sergei Zubov and Ed Belfour were both drunks.

they're from Texas, they're born bandwaggoners

Way back in the 1970's in the old Central Hockey League, the Chicago Blackhawks had a minor league affiliate in Dallas (the Dallas Black Hawks--yes the spelling was different--they played at the Fair Park Coliseum).
Plus most of DFW consists of transplants from other parts of the country. Despite their best efforts the Stars have not, and will never, create a real fan base--go to a Stars game and anywhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of those in attendance are wearing the other team's colors.

Well, I was speaking solely about the Blackhawks. This city is chalked-full of transplants that adopted the Blackhawks as their team when they moved here at 22-years-old.
That being said, there are plenty of Cubs fans aren't there because they're die-hards. People sit on the rooftops and the bleachers to get belligerently drunk. As someone else said, being at a Cubs game is more about the social atmosphere of getting wasted at the bars on Clark and getting even more blitzed once in the outside or on the rooftops.
Both of my roommates consider themselves die-hard Cubs fans, and even I can see that fandom has wavered tremendously over the years. Admittedly, it is difficult to cheer for a franchise that has been in the dumps for so long, but there is a reason tickets come by so cheap and go unsold late in the season... and it's not because Cubs fans are as committed as they come. People just stop caring.

I also disagree with this. Yes, there is an element that is at the game to get drunk (kinda like every philadelphia based fan of any one of their teams), but Cubs fans are very into the games and very knowledgeable. The bleachers are essentially the "student section" of the stadium. Very into the game, but a little less in the know than the folks in the grandstands. I think they're great, and enjoy sitting out there from time to time. It's entertaining.
There are very few teams that would consistently bring people in performing like the cubs have the last few years (since about '07/'08), yet they're right around the top 10 in attendance every year.
It's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. If people stop going, they're bandwagon fans...if people keep going, it's because they're supposedly just there to get drunk and have fun (Even if that were the case, the horrors!) Most franchises would kill to have the support the Cubs do year in and year out.
And actually, Philly fans are clearly as fickle as anyone...they're sitting at 21 out of 30 in attendance this year. Not as die hard as they would have us believe a few years ago.
tl;dr Cubs fans are foul weather fans (to quote the great Eddie Vedder).

Who the hell would want to pull for Tampa Bay? The Lightning winning the Stanley Cup will actually deter outside viewers from the NHL and preventing an increase in fans for watching something so uninspiring.
Please don't turn this into that joke of a league they call the MLB.

I've lived in Texas damn near all my life and have run into maybe 5 Blackhawks fans.
I've seen many more who claim the Bruins, Kings, and Penguins.

Huh? Original six teams will always have a big following. Seeing success in newer markets is good for the league. Now, if you're saying Tampa in the Cup finals is bad for TV ratings, I can't disagree.
And how can you not root for this guy?

This because Florida is full of transplants who adopt their families teams from back home. Florida isn't a bandwagon state, it's a state where people have previous affiliations. Some of my classmates would go "home" to New York for the summer to see their family.

I don't see how a newer market having a good team hurts the league. Are the established markets so fickle that every Eastern Conference champ needs to come from the NE?
The Bolts are the league's southern success story (even with their Stanley Cup run heading straight into a lockout) and as insane as it sounds the Bay Area is fairly pumped about a hometown team right now.

This question shouldn't have to be answered because it's so obvious. The Blackhawks have been the most successful team in hockey for the last decade. Success creates bandwagons. Why are there so many Laker, Steelers, Patriots, Yankees, etc. fans throughout the South? The same thing that we see with the Hawks happened with Detroit in the late 90s/early 2000s. It's not a new thing
